You went from a 530d to that? I'd imagine in try DannyW style the 530d was a nail? :p

530d gone, didn't like the gearbox and when it was cold it had a very smokey engine

s60 d5 gone, developed a tappety top end

Why do all of your cars seem to go wrong so quickly? None of mine ever have

The way you get a bargain when buying a used car is by buying a single owner vehicle privately from the original owners large house , who is so wealthy that they simply do not care how much the car sells for, and as such price it cheaply to sell it quickly.

Not by buying seemingly nice cars from what appears to be a war zone

My S60 was 1 owner with full volvo service history bought from a posh house like you said, it still had a top end problem, which is quite common on 05/06 D5's they had problems with the lifters, its all over the forums

530d was a company car upto 100k then privatly owned upto 130k

Friend I can see my reflection in that steering wheel and those leather seats...then the leather door trim has started sagging from the bare elbow scrapings it's had..then there's the sorry state of the floor and the curbed wheels and the lack of xenons and climate control (wtf).

But that's just me.

lol its a 8 year old USED car, USED i.e not NEW

xenons & climate are optional and ive already said 1st owner was company car how many company cars get speced out

Very few pre LCI E60's had Xenons and it does have climate - its just the very basic climate which was standard across the range. Advanced Climate was extra. Yes, it's a step down from the climate in your E46. But thats the E60 for you.

Sold my Alfa 159 and replaced it with something quite different - an Audi A1. Went for the Sport version in the end, and after seemingly endless searching managed to find one with the options I wanted. It is the 1.4 TFSI S tronic. I tested quite a few S Line models, and they were sprung too hard to be comfortable on a car of this relatively small size. The 159 had 19" wheels and so was pretty bumpy - I wanted a softer ride.

First impressions are pretty good. The S tronic gearbox (used to be called DSG I think) is great - 7 speed and the changes are very smooth.

The only downside was the colour - recession white...
