Absolutely sweet setup mate. Would love to build a home simulator for Flight Sim but haven't the cash nor the room.

Looks well!

I play with FSX and Acars/Radar decoding but good grief what a set-up.

Who makes that flight control unit?

What is the screen to the right of the simulator screens showing?

The Yoke is made by Saitek and is part of their Pro Flight range, it comes with a throttle quadrant, and Saitek also make some really good rudder pedals.

The screens to the right are running FS Commander, which is a great program for flight planning and also gives you s moving map image of where you are, where other planes are, airport and ILS/ATC info, and also live vatsim info if you are on that. The other monitor has Simplates airport charts which are great for flying real world procedures. Also use it to display things like ASX real weather at times as well though.

Certainly is. I really like the big jets, and have found this to be the best plane add-on. Very well modelled and frame rate friendly.

It is nice except I haven't a clue how to fly it! The overhead systems are the ones I cant get sorted.

I tend to stick to the PMDG 737.

How easy are these flight sims to just pick up and play? Will i need to spend weeks just learning how to get the plane off the ground?

I remember playing some Microsoft Flight Sim YEARS ago, i just kept crashing the plane :D

It depends how much you want to get out of it really. if you want to just muck around in a cessna then fair enough but with the bigger jets there can be quite a learning curve. You can start at the end of the runway and just take off but for more realism you can start on the stand, use proper flightplans, program flight management computers and run through checklists all before you even start up! The detail on some of the recent addons is unreal and getting to grips with some of these jets is hard work but well worth the effort.

Been looking at this thread for a long time, is that the first picture of a mouse to the left of the keyboard? :)

I know quite a few people who are left handed but still use their right for the mouse.
