Show Us Your XBox 360 Setup!

Cokecan what PJ is that? Im quite interested in getting one at some point. Also how much did those speakers set you back? I need a good audio set up :)

the pj is a panasonic PT-AE500. its old now (considering theres now been another 3 versions, AE700, AE900, AX100) but still v.decent. native high def res (720p), has all the connections on it you can think of, vga, dvi, component, svideo, composite and even a scart socket :)

i picked it up off avforums quite some time ago with only a hundred or so hours on the bulb out of 5000.

i used to have an old panny PT-LM1E data pj which was ok, but soon realised how bad pixel compression looked (tryin to fit 1280x720 onto 800x600 display usin pixel compression is a no no lol) also i had a big 160cm wide screen which IMO was too big. PJ isn't all about BIG BIG screen, the size ive currently got (120cm wide) is just nice. still bigger than most tellys but not so big that you find it hard to see whats goin off lol

the speakers set me back bout £400 but i bought the 2 front floorstanders with my amp and a set of acoustic energy's that my friend bought so we got a fair bit of discount, then just went back for the center and rears when i had more money (also got a discount cos of what i had bought previously)

you may have a job finding missions though as they've been taken over by wharfdale so are a bit rare (especially in black for some reason?). I came from a set of 5.1 sony satalite speakers and these really do blow them away. VERY gald i upgraded. everythin sounds awesome but to be honest, there are better speakers around. at the end of the day its what you like the sound of and want to spend (i liked the sound of these and could afford them so was a great match)

lol my motto: BIG screen needs BIG sound :D

EDIT: cannot wait to try Gears of War.......still got 2 days to go :(

Changed my mind, don't buy it.
Save up a total of circa £1600 and get the Samsung Le40N73BDX instead, for 1080p goodness

As I said it can be had for just over a grand but sadly looks like a throw back to 80's argos furniture. Might not look so bad wall mounted in a bedroom, likely what McD will do but it looks tacky in a livingroom imo.

Great screen though.

Look forward to seeing your 360 on it, you gonna run your z5000's to it as the speakers are poo on the tv. Is this to go next to your 20 inch dell ;)

SAMSUNG | LG | DELL | LG

Will be arranged like that ^^

and yea my Z5500 run my 360 via optical, and PC via COAX.

not worried about my Sky+ being 5.1 however so will run that through TV

I hope that is a good enough review ;-)

sounds good Maxi, about 20 hours to late though - the banding issues and 180page thread on avfurms put me off lol

After your comments, I had to investigate. Looked on said forum and quite surprised at some of the comments.

I have seen none of these banding issues, looks like I was one of the lucky ones

#frantically touching lots of wooden things#

cheers for the heads up though

It was the banding issues that put me off the 37 inch WLT. If it only hit one in ten, sure as hell I'd be the one in ten :D

I don't know what your parents charge you in rent Mcd but they need to monitor (no pun intended) the leccy coming out of your room and double your rent ;)

My rent is whopping £120 a month

I be lucky

Yeah you are I was paying that in 1990 :(

So why a 40 inch screen for the bedroom? Is it primarily for the 360 and free the 20 inch dell up for the pc? Or is it mainly for sky and still use the 20 inch dell for 360?

When I put the 40 inch N in my living room the room felt half as big. Interested to see how that all fits in set up when your done. No doubt there will be pictures :D

its primary use will be 360, with a bit of sky usage - i download most of my tv - soagain the 360 will stream HD content aswell.

I went bigger because the last tv i got was 5/6 years ago; its not something i change often - so more of an investment - forwhen i do move out.

Im not gonna notice the difference between 720/1080 i feel cos im relatively close to the screen so decided to reduce the cost and avoid the 1080p for now (shame the toshiba has issues or i would got best of both worlds)
