Shuttle launch STS-118 today

This flight is a milestone as it carries Barbara Morgan the woman who survived the challenger explosion as Christa McAuliffe was chosen over her, lucky woman, lets hope she's as lucky with today's launch. This is one big moment for her

nothing personal but i hate it when people think like that....

if i dont go out in my car now i might not die in the mass collision at the end of the road, or pull out in front of that tesco lorry....

she didnt survive... she just wasnt good enough first time around to make it up.. luckily for her.

This is the first time Endevour has been into space since 2002, hope it still flies ok.

Good luck to the crew :)

after seeing on the discovery channel how thorough the ground crews are when it comes to a stripdown and rebuild i have faith. :)

OK, admit it, who was waiting for me to turn up here? :D

Slight misinterpretation of the facts there. Christa McAuliffe was the teacher selected for the 'teacher in space' programme, with Barbara Morgan as backup.

Launch is now T minus 1 hour 20 minutes. So the launch is now 10.40 tonight.
Nope - 11:36 is the correct time. Read NASA's Countdown 101 if you're not sure why. :)

PS - if you have an accurate clock, don't panic when you see it's 11:36 and the shuttle isn't going anywhere yet. :)

Yes I know there is holding time.

ooo, I've never seen a launch in real time, only on past films, hope i don't miss it gaming or something silly lol

where is the countdown, is it only shown sometimes ??

You do know bandwidth is only used when you're watching, don't you? :)

Anyway, you've missed all the good bits so far - best wait for the launch now.

PS - it's not NASA's bandwitdh. They outsource. :)
