spill the beans how on earth did you kill the lot ?

By being a little stupid!!!!

Built many rigs and quite a few with vga cards that needed additional power however none with the awkward cabling of the 25P (underneath the drive cage in the middle of the mobo - the 37P2 has it in a much easier place ~ behind the front part of the chassis!!

Anyway the only way I could see to get the power plug into the X1950 in the 25P was to actually plug the power into the card before inserting it - which shouldnt be a problem if you take the kettle plug out first (I usually leave it in for grounding purposes, and without the additional power to the card you should be safe)

Slight touch of the X1950 backing plate to the chassis, huge spark and hey presto everything is dead.

Completely my fault - highly annoying but there ya go.

Worked out its going to cost around £800 to replace the hardware - and really little point going amd as it wont save any significant amount of £££ and as we all probably know the performance isnt anywhere near C2D's currently.

Highly expensive mistake

I'm flabbergasted, didn't know so much damage could happen just connecting things like that.

I assume you've checked each component in another PC to see if they are damaged?
