Sigma announce 18-35mm f1.8 lens...

I use my 10-22 a lot in winter. Haven't used my 100mm f2.8 macro L for a while (not bug season) and I'm still struggling to find a use for my sigma 35mm f1.4 art.
It's not that I don't use it due to lack of zoom. More like I just don't do any photography in that 'normal' range

The above makes me think the 35mm f1.4 is better due to its unique pictures

It's still annoying how sigma misses it's AF when subject is fast moving (don't really know if this lens is designed for that as anyway). Dunno if I cab justify keeping it except that it produces pictures that are strangely different to all my other lenses

And as discussed in finding I don't know if I actually need my 120-300mm as not really getting to any sporting events.

(as per my other thread, really think I'm missing super tele!)

I had the 40mm quite early on and found that whilst I liked the lens, I didn't find the focal length that useful and for that reason I was never that bothered about getting a 35mm lens. Obviously F1.4 is different to F2.8 but I never really thought I'd get much use out of a 35mm lens when I'd hardly used my 40mm.

I use my 18-35mm as a kind of walkabout lens and for the few occasions when I decide to take pics at parties etc and it's all good :D

Ah I can see a use in close quarters fit that zoom. I'd Never need it
Sometimes I don't 35mm too short, but other times 50mm is too long.
I have the canon 50mm 1.8 and never use it. But that maybe because it doesn't take such nice pictures
On plus side I find its AF much much quicker than sigma 35mm

I was the same with the Fuji 35mm f1.4. At first it seemed too tight and restrictive, but I use it a lot now. It wasn't because the gear isn't flexible or is the "wrong" focal length for my use, it just required a mental shift to get the feel of the lens and what it can do, and find my own use cases for it.

If they made a Fuji-mount 18-35 f1.8 I'd be all over it despite the weight.

Off to New York at the weekend (second visit) and contemplating just taking my 12mm f2 and the 35mm f1.4. I'll probably cave in and take a few other options, but will end up carrying just those two with me when out and about.

That too :) There aren't many things that are too wide for 18mm and if 35mm isn't long enough then you walk a bit closer :P

if that's not possible then tough I guess! I have my 100mm and if that's too long then I just shoot at 35mm and crop since the lens is sharp
