Silent Hill F

Is it as annoying as Wukong bosses? Nothing can be as annoying as those...

Will jump back in, just busy with other stuff as of late with any spare time to TV shows and BF6 for an hour here and there lol.

Cronos needs completing too.

I haven't played Wukong, but my take on the combat in this is that it's tedious and enemy variety is pretty terrible. There's one enemy which comes up repeatedly and when it does you must kill it to progress. It's very dull and takes ages to kill.
Bosses are slightly more interesting, but still pretty lame.

Wukong was a waste of money for me for that reason, almost as bad as Starfield lol.

Wukong was great but if you're not into a boss rush style heavily Chinese stylised souls-like you're going to hate it.

I enjoyed Wukong, however I have some fatigue for these Chinese developer souls like games because they all have basically the same story, themes, worlds etc

I still play them though, even with the fatigue

They almost all tend to lean into the "Journey to the West" story in different ways.

I really enjoy Chinese related media but I can't lie when saying that particular story gets a touch old after the millionth time. I think they view it as the safe option to push into Western markets, with some luck we'll see a bit more creativity from them going forward, that said we're dealing with a very patriotic culture that loves its folklore. It might be a spam of Chinese dragons/spiritual beings such as foxes or what have you falling in love with mortal women or something going forward.

The biggest thing of note is they're probably holding back when pushing into western media, Chinese people really like tragedies rather than happy endings and will literally run a 50 part hour long episode series to have what you love die come the end.

Yep that's the one I was thinking of; it's all variations of journey to the west. I could be wrong but I suspect the CCP is to blame. China has a rich history with thousands of years they should be able to draw from, yet we keep getting journey to the west stories because it's one of the few bits of Chinese culture that the CCP under Mao did not ban. There are now multiple generations of people in China who've had their cultural history stripped from them, so it's not a surprise that they don't have too much to draw from when creating media content

So I'm about 40% through this game now.

At first I thought it was really good... but now that I am some ways through its no where near the quality of Silent Hill 2.

Its not terrible but its not up to the Silent Hill 2 standard.

I think its the locations that’s the issue. In SH2 every level changed the environment. Here all the environments I have experienced so far are very similar.

I'm now at the bit where
you get the fox arm in the worship hall
best bit of the game so far.

Now the combat doesn't feel like a such a chore.

Also is anyone actually playing through this multiple times on NG+?

I never NG+ any games as I feel like I've completed it first time round and there's not enough time for all the games to play in the first place let alone a game like this with such laborious combat...

Oh and I would say that the game is definitely darker and more sick than SH2 that's for sure.

The bits in the worship hall are pretty nasty. Poor Hinako.

The game in some ways is a bit of an Alice in Wonderland story in the sense that it is a decent in to madness.
