Siliconslave's how to make espresso thread

I've been wondering why I love the combination of bacon and coffee so much and it just occurred to me: it's the smokiness of the bacon! So it made me wonder: can you get smoked coffee? Not merely dark roasts, but actually smoked over honest-to-goodness wood. Or maybe mixed with liquid smoke, although boo at artificial anything.
Great idea, or heresy?

On an unrelated note, who apart from Hasbean has decent tea? Asking here cause I want to buy some coffee as well if I'm putting in an order :)

Just a few suggestions - you'vre got the above average Suki and Teapigs... but I suspect that these are more for you. ;)

Postcard Tea - currently trying a load of their tea. Have a afternoon with them planned in the future - just drinking and learning.

Waterloo Tea - Can absolutely recommend - China breakfast, Waterloo Blend and Meghalaya Autumn Flush *this is the best tea I have ever had*

[edit]
Forgot to mention, Waterloo Tea also put recommended brew ratio's and times on their packets - great for a starting point. :D
Most black teas seem to be around 1g tea / 100g water with a 3-4min brew time.

Im on their silver needle white tea at the moment, it's loose leaf, as most quailty tea is, so you'll need a strainer/ sieve, and heat in a pan of water (carefull not to boil or it'll bruise the leaves) worth the effort for the taste. ,

Yeah, Teapigs are pretty good but I was looking for loose leaf - I accidentally spilled a friend's vanilla tea and I want to replace it, though I'll probably get some for myself as well cause it was nice. ;) Postcard didn't have any vanilla, and Waterloo seem to be selling the same tea Hasbean is for twice the price (! ) so I might just go for Hasbean so I can buy some coffee with it too.
I'm not surprised the smoked coffee already existed! :p Coffeebeandirect doesn't seem to ship overseas, might buy a pound of Smokey Joe's just for the hell of it, even though I'm not expecting it to be that good. They have a half-pound size available but it's not on their order page, it says to email them for information but the email address provided is a. not a mail:to hyperlink, b. not an email address! Also the text seems to be embedded as an image rather than copy-pasteable! :D Who made that website? Apple should sue them for defamation for putting the "designed on a Mac" logo at the bottom! :D

I'm currently loving the new Cult of Done espresso from Workshop Coffee.

The old blend was smooth and balanced across the board. Quite forgiving too.

The new one, isn't a blend. And it's like being smashed in the mouth with a bottle of ribena! It's not subtle. :D

Im a chef but when it quitens off get other jobs, barista being one, we use union beans and store them in the freezer for freshnes if we've ground too much. Another job being dishwasher.

I've been practising using the Classic and making cappuccinos today so I probably won't be able to sleep until next Wednesday. My latte art is non-existent! Texture of the milk is nice and the coffee tastes pretty good but I hope to improve on a strange blob soon though :D

Wow, dramatic stuff! Seems farming is a dangerous business in Bolivia, I'll definitely be sending a letter too, ordered a batch of their coffee last year and it was good.

Tonight I ordered some El Salvador Finca Loma La Gloria along with that vanilla tea I wanted though and I'm quite looking forward to it, seems quite different to what I've been drinking lately.

I just bought a bag of m&s espresso beans and would certainly recommend as an everyday bean. Also out of curiosity I bought a bag of columbian beans. What's the deal with non espresso blends, and will they taste ok in a latte or more for a cafetiere?
