Siliconslave's how to make espresso thread

what's ks policy on this? It met it's goal and yet they aren't going to deliver, is it a case of charge back with through the credit card company or paypal? Or have people lost their money?

I didn't back this btw

Nothing to do with KS. They helped raise the money, got their 5 or 10% and handed the rest over. Up to ZPM what they did with the money.

Potentially credit card dispute, or it's looking like a class action over on reddit.

Enjoying the Columbian Suarez Bean from Rave at the moment. Also just bought a knock box from Happy Donkey.

Useful, but £28 for this knock box. Only a bin at the end of the day. but hay ho.

And stops as soon as you create a seal by putting the plunger in :)

It actually increases first as you insert the plunger, and then stops. A lot less control than inverted. You would also have flow through the filter whilst stirring the grinds, unless you don't bother with that. Again though that makes a difference to the brew.

Upside down is obviously better, but you can stop the flow by having the plunger in when the right way up.

Anyway I'm just embarrassed that I hadn't thought of using it upside down and only inserting the plunger the right way up XD

While I'm here, does anyone have a recommendation for a moderately strong, nutty, bean from has been?

Eh, it is likek any other investment. People invested, the company folded.

The only difference with KS it is just pocket money. Someone invested 500K of their own money in the startup I work for, we more or less folded last month and so he has put another 500K of his money on the line to give us a 4 month horizon. Still a high chance of failure so the guy could be loosing 1million. tah is investments for you.

bought myself a coffee bean roaster :)

my first batch came out great!

no more having to re order beans ever week!

very brave, which one did you get? I'm constantly tempted - although mainly for kudos / toys sake - chances are the coffee i'd roast wouldn't be any better, or fresher than mail order!

RE Kickstarter - i've had a few projects fold after funding, it sucks, especially when its for stupid reasons such as in fighting :( Still it is a risk & while KS should be more upfront about that risk i'm sure you didn't go into it blind.

So I posted about the Minipresso a while ago, and now they're taking pre-orders. I think it looks like a great coffee gadget and will come in handy when I'm at work or away from home. I've placed my order with no payment required until they're ready to ship.
There is a decent review on Home Barista

It could be better your roast because how would the place u buy your roasted beans know your taste? You may like your beans roasted more darker or lighter then usual.

Also, instead of ordering roasted beans once a week or two, you can order a large batch of green beans that can last u many months.

So does it take capsules? It looks like it does but can't see anything about ordering them etc... ?

EDIT: Nevermind... just watched the video and see it takes ground coffee (although from the pictures on the main page it looks like it takes capsules!

I think it is a separate version for capsules, but it's the same price. You can choose on the pre-order page. From what I can see, it is compatible with Caffitaly System & Tchibo Caffissimo capsules.

My first order from hasbean arrived today:

1 CA51 Colombia El Meridiano Rioblanco Washed - Roasted Whole Beans 250g
1 CC13 Indian Bibi Peaberry Bold Washed Catucai - Roasted Whole Beans 250g
1 Filter Starter Pack - Roasted Whole Beans 250g

I'll let you know what I think of them.

Reading the 2015 gaggia classic has been seriously gimped over on coffee uk

Do tell...

sounds like they've swapped to a stainless steel boiler and added some energy saving gubbins... But most importantly the OPV and steam wand mods no longer work :(

Yeah, that's a nuisance. There are quite a few changes to this new machine, and it may mean that it won't be the "go to" espresso machine at a reasonable price. I wonder if the price of 2nd hand pre-2015 models will go up?
