Siliconslave's how to make espresso thread

The Seattle coffee video, did say there was a 3 way solenoid, but showed
four supplied baskets ! (pressurized and normal single/double ... I had to look up what
pressurized is all about .. fewer holes on basket exit .. is it useful ?) but no blind
hence my question.

It's meant to be useful for novices as it mitigates errors in grind / tamping - it does an element of self regulating. However I don't see the point in getting a machine like this and not learning how to dial in the grind.

Best thread to bring it up.

I order from Rave every couple of months and have just run out, but wondering about a change from somewhere else. So, suggestions? I normally get the Fudge Blend from Rave so something sweet will always fit the bill. Never ordered from Hasbean or Pact. Use an Aeropress.

Cheers!

Decided it was time to upgrade my little Dulce Gusto machine but got used to the simplicity of an automatic machine so I give you the Melitta Caffeo Barista.

Well... that'll teach me...

Bought a new (used) espresso machine a month or so ago. Went to move it into our new house into the little coffee area I have started to set up.... Ooops...

Turns out, it's within a millimetre of being the exact same height as the gap between the worktop and the cupboards. Damn.

Oh well, that just means that the next kitchen project is to raise the cabinets about 100-125mm

Or just give me the machine. I'll give you my old Classic in return :p

I made the same mistake when I bought my cellini, though it's not as close as that, but close enough that I can't put the machine under the cupboard because it would prevent me getting to the reservoir and the grinder is a few cm too tall as well. :(

Well, the London Coffee Festival is open again.
It's bigger than ever, 2 full floors and 2 competition areas. Coffee Masters and UKBC stages.

So far, the interesting stuff is:
The Square Mile stand where they have opened The Canteen. It's utilising various coffee products, the Sweetshop soft serve ice cream is superb. Also pick up Issue 2 of Longberry while you're there.

The Starbucks stand. Brave idea for Starbucks to come to the London Coffee Festival and not bring any coffee. They're focussing on their tea there this year. Some of it was pretty good actually.

Both the competition areas have some good stuff on. UK Barista Championship starts on saturday. Coffee Masters started today.

Sage are doing a good freebie. Make a coffee on one of their machines, they've got a Dual Boiler, Barista Express and Oracle, tweet a photo with a hashtag and get a free one of these

Union Hand Roasted stand is always good.
