Siliconslave's how to make espresso thread

Now have a Rancilio Silvia on order and have also stepped up a grinder as well. Ordered a Mazzer Mini. Always liked the look of them and can't wait to give it a go when it arrives. Living off hand ground coffee and an Aeropress. Not a bad way to drink coffee to be fair. ;)

Have sold the MC2 to the chap next door after he came round for a coffee... He's now addicted to espresso. :D

The slippery upward slope :)

I currently make my coffee using an Aeropress, just wondering if its worth investing in a grinder and coffee machine to improve things?
Pretty much always use Hasbean`s ground coffee which is great, would be nice to be able to create a proper espresso however.

It will be better but only you can judge if its worth the money. I mean I've spent about £350 on my coffee so far and i still would like a good electrical burr grinder !

But if you think of it purely in an economical term, this time last year when its cold like it is now, I would go to Costa every morning for a coffee (I don't anymore) so a little math.

£3 a cup, x 20 cups a month (average) = £60 a month on coffee.

Gaggia Classic - £200
Tamper - £40
Coffee beans to last 6 months - £40
Zassenhaus Grinder - £45

Total cost - £325

So I wold make my money back in theory after about 6 months, I have had mine since October 1st, thats 3 months already and I've made the outlay of my Gaggia Classic back already (in theory). :) In the past 3 months i've been to Starbucks/Cafe Nero/Costa only twice so it has worked in keeping my away from Coffee shops.

In terms of coffee enjoyment, it's a no brainer, I can enjoy nice coffee at home at 8pm when everywhere is shut. You can't beat that :)

only grind what you need, never more. Or it'll be a waste.

Should I empty the whole bag of beans into the hopper though? it'll probs last about 10-ish days as my brothers like espresso now as well... surprise...surprise lol

I will pop the other one in the freezer as everyone says

*snip*

Possibly, I love my coffee and have found Starbucks, Costa etc are rather rubbish nowadays, allways seemed rushed and on too many occasions, luke warm.

£40 on a tamper? Bit much isnt it?
The Zassenhaus looks quite nice, especially for the price.

Will see if I can find a second hand Gaggia Classic.
If I cant find one, what is a suitable alternative to the Classic?
Not really looking to spend more then £150 if I can.

Grrrr, i am still undecided on a grinder !

I've emailed HappyDonkey asking them on their method of delivery and estimate time but they never replied :(

I was going to reccomend the dualit but you are getting decent results (similar to mine on the blade grinder) so it wont be an upgrade really
