Siliconslave's how to make espresso thread

Niche Zero.

I considered the Sette 270wi or eureka mignon perfetto, but I think the Niche allows me to have more control, it forces me to even.

Can anyone recommend some scales? I like one when using the v60, it starts the timer on its own when I start pouring if such a thing exists.

Just had some scales delivered from the rainforest. 8 quid. 200/0.01g portable one. Looks like they're all the same just different branding on there. Just nailed the Lavazza Fossa dialling in first time, 18g beans, 36g extracted, 28 seconds.

Interested to hear how the niche is :)

I like one that is thin and short enough to fit under the Gaggia Classic preferably.

Couldn't resist, I am an unashamed hipster. This shot went on an affogato, and was delicious :)

morning coffee, tried 2nd cup, with bottomless, but it's still a mess ...
think I have a theory IMS basket , ridgless, has a curved base ... so may need to try a flat one ... have to see if coffeeforums supports that theory.

nice picture - we need to see the drip tray cover to assess undesired splashing.

The real test is to "wrap a white kitchen towel around the portafilter as it pours. The brown will stand out from the white. I have never made one where the towel is 100% white after a shot.

Mine's flat bottomed. I got a little splatter from it, just one hole was spraying a bit, not sure if it was just a channel and my distribution/tamping needs work, or it's a wonky hole :P Definitely not spraying everywhere though.

Disaster has struck!

My machine has sprung a leak (coming from behind the group head). Terrible timing what with covid19 and all, too.

Not whilst on furlough it isn't. :(

Tbh I think it is quite fixable. I'll order an e61 service kit and if really need be I can dig out the soldering iron to seal any of the joints if need be.

have you opened it to have a look inside? It could be just a washer or loose nut?
