Siliconslave's how to make espresso thread

Trust me if you new what I have access to reading your guys posts, you would be in seventh heaven.

I looked at that hasbean site. Just an observation, they got a very good selection of beans, however I have to say the cost per kilo is extremely high. I would expect it for some specialist beans, but some of there bog standard stuff is pretty high.

Probably because they expect the majority of their customers to buy in 250g bags, and buy a selection of beans rather than a stock of a particular bean. Especially when they get new coffees in all the time.

I think most people on here buy from Hasbean because it has a very good selection and is quite accessible for non experts as well.

Speaking personally, I've found their service brilliant and I love the fact that I can order some beans and have them arrive the next day in the post and freshly roasted.

Which Delhongi machine was that? It'd be great if mine lasts that long. :)

I got my Gaggia Baby , turned it on and the steam button didn’t work so I returned it.

3 days later the machine came back to me repaired, within 3 coffees the button broke again..

I have sent an email off to Gaggia asking them to pick the machine up and not to replace it. I think I will go for another Delhongi 2 failures within a few hours use isn’t any good for me.

Coffee wise there was not much in it between the Delohongi and the Gaggia except the price.

My other option is i return it and purchase a Gaggia Classic.

I know:( but it does make a decent espresso tbh. In all honesty I got fed up with the cleaning involved with having a seperate grinder and machine, I started to drink more tea cos I didnt have the time in the morning to make the espresso.

This suits my lifestyle more, and as I dont have a sophisticated enough palette, this is fine by me! Its all in he bean anyway:p

double ristretto, add 14grams of coffee into your double filter basket, place on espresso cup underneath to catch coffee from both sides. Fill the cup up approx 2.5floz of coffee. Couple of those in the morning and i begin to start functioning.

I would also like to point out I stumbled across this forum by accident. I was looking for something coffee related and wondered how on earth I managed to find Overclockers in google when looking for coffee. I have purchased stuff from them before, and along with pc's my other passion is coffee. I only registered on here to share some of what I know with you guys.

Has anyone bought coffee from monmouth coffees in london?

Im gonna go down there this week. Is there stuff freshly roasted and what sort of prices do they do per kilo.

Who do you buy from then, and what sort of quantities do you get each time you make a purchase? Coffee, not PCs:p

I've drank in their cafe but haven't bought any beans. I liked it, it was good coffee, so it's safe to buy their beans, other good espresso bars in London use them too. Miles ahead of any franchise chain like Starbucks, it goes without saying. Their cafe is really small, only like 5-6 tables, so I assume they must make most of their money selling beans.
Vergnano is another great place to have coffee in. I think they sell beans as well, but as they're mainly an espresso bar rather than a bean retailer I'm not sure how fresh their stock will be.
