Siliconslave's how to make espresso thread

Anyone noticed that Hasbeans delivery service has gone bad of late? I used to always select their 1st class delivery option when ordering and the coffee would always turn up next day, they've changed delivery options now and 1 st class has been replaced with a 24 hr service that seems to take 2 or 3 days to deliver! Time to ditch them I reckon, will try one of the other suppliers listed in the thread, any recommendations?

That's a shame. I've moved away from Hasbean to try out local roasteries. It may be worth looking around online to see if you can track down any near you (it was an effort for me but there are at least three in Manchester).

I'm a bit out in the sticks here so unlikely to find anyone locally, will check around though, you never know, some old yokel may have a roaster in his barn.:p Hasbean order arrived at last, this blueberry stuff is different, very nice though.

Not me. I buy from them every other week, and I always get my delivery within a day or so (depending on the time of day that I place the order). Have you contacted them to see what they have to say?

No I haven't yet, will probably stick with them for a while and see how it goes. Not really the end of the world that delivery takes slightly longer these days, their coffee is still excellent. I'll just have to make sure I time orders better so's not to run out again.

damn it its 11:15 and my machine is only just starting to warm up, ill have one by 11:30 still, bloody school run and shopping requirements.

Coffee is the first thing I do in the morning after the morning IT systems checks. Everything else can wait! The downside at the moment is that the Ethiopian Yirgacheffe Chelelektu Washed isn't the nicest coffee I've had in my Aeropress :(. Can't waste it though.

I do have an espresso first thing when I get up but I'm not really awake enough to taste it. That combined with being in a rush to get out of the house usually means that it's extremely poorly made too and purists probably would take issue with me even calling it "espresso" :p

just taken an extended lunch break and cleaned my machine properly as it had started to look a bit dull and the puck was starting to channel quite a bit.
Full back flush; soaking all the bits in puly caff inc the shower disc and shower disk holder; and a thorough rinse through

I'm terribly lazy about doing it but always surprised how much of a difference it makes to the coffee! Although tis monmouth stuff just tastes burned however well i make it :( If i get a chance to pick up something else on monday this'll go in the bin (unless anyone wants about 300g of espresso beans, answers on a postcard to trust@ocuk)

My Porlex handle is borked and the new one is taking an age to arrive. Using pre ground coffee makes me sad. :( I've asked for an Iberital MC2 for Christmas otherwise I'd be buying one of them as an upgrade but looks like no proper coffee till Christmas at this rate!

Buying my wife an Aeropress for Christmas, do they fare ok with pre ground? Thought it would be good for work for her.

Went to TAP Coffee recently, not bad. Think it was recommended earlier in the thread.

Also, early Christmas present to myself - a non-pressurised basket for my Gaggia Classic. Should I expect to have to change the grind?

That's a really awesome price for the Classic.

Absolutely. Grind and/or tamp will need to be adjusted.
