Silly power requirements, an over hyped myth?

Didn't get a reply in my other thread thought I'd post here.

Akasa 500W = Enough for 8800GTX? (Spec in sig, but add 4GB of ram in total now)

Just wanna be sure before I order, from reading this thread sounds like it should be fine.

Ah nice one, apparently my current card doesn't draw much less watts than the 8800GTX either and this is fine.

Overclocked Kentsfield, Nforce 680i, dual Nvidia 8800GTX SLI, Evercool water cooler only needs 500W power supply.

That's full load (quad Prime small FFTs).

Nah, that's the total system peak wattage when running quad Prime (assuming 80% efficiency, it equates to about 700W).

No, single card (volt modded to 1.45V but at stock), but quad core prime.

Impressive numbers there Jokester! Another Ultra and some more upping of volts would easily take you over the 1kw mark.

By the way, is it a Toughpower you're using?
