After watching both free practices i was a little concerned about the height of the pit wall over the mclaren garages and being able to see them and now my fears are looking right....

#F1 Jenson Button: "The only problem at our end of the pitlane is we can't see the fans and they can't see us..."

just read that on twitter i carnt ****** believe it my first gp and i carn`t see in the damn garage from the grandstand

How an earth can they blunder like this i mean jesus most of the crowd goes to see british drivers at the briitish gp

I may be over reacting.... i dunno for sure till i get there on sunday so sorry if im rambling :P

Yep you can't see into the left half of the garages, the pit wall is too high / the garages are too low. We were directly opposite the Red Bull garage and you couldn't see in. Had a quick look at the other end and you could see a bit more into the Lotus Racing garage.

The pit exit is very steep now, twitching when putting power down going up the hill :)

So, we have had 2 practise sessions and not a single soul has mentioned anything about the times/finishing order...

Tut tut.

Wet weather is giving some mixed results.

FP1:
Webber
MSc
Barrichello

FP2:
Massa
Rosberg
Kobayashi

I was there and got wet, I don't think the times today were much of a real example, so that's perhaps why.

They have defiantly made improvements by using what is now the old bit of the circuit to hold the main stalls and what little sponsor exhibits there are to look at.

The area that used to be used for it near the old pit straight looks very quiet now, but that did get heavily congested.

On the new pit straight Grandstands are they not just temporary before they build something better? For example we noticed that the podium which is at an angle isn't really inline with either of the Grandstands which doesn't make so much sense.

Are tickets still really roaming these days?
Friday seems fine, nobody was even really checking tickets even, but as the event has gotten busier I've noticed that Saturday seems to be different. Last year we had a guy go nuts at us (before even asking) because we were sat in his seats for the first Saturday practise. The Steward wasn't that helpful & couldn't really tell us whether roaming was really possible these days and said we should move. We didn't really have a problem moving but the guy was a bit of an arse and it certainly wasn't how Saturday was first come, first serve like the past.

GA allows you access to any of the seating on Fri & Sat. The seat number is only 'yours' on the Sunday. There are a few corporate and other stands, but GA won't allow you in them any way.

This is also my very first full F1 race :D Been to plenty of practice sessions and pre/mid season testing (before latter was banned).

Really can't wait, VIP treatment and everything, sat between Welly Straight and Maggotts.

And as people like to post pics of tickets :)

No cost, I won the tickets by naming The Wing.

Treatment was good - Silverstone Six hospitality village which gets you complimentary drinks all day (soft, champagne, beer as long as you like carlsberg), breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea, private grandstand overlooking 6 corners (hence the name), easy inclusive backdoor parking (took us 20 minutes to get there and parked from Wellingborough), full general admission access to wander wherever we felt etc then of course all the normal stuff you get regardless of ticket type. Well worth the money even if I'd paid for them.

Wow sounds fab and great stuff on naming The Wing!!!
I am currently logging on Silverstones website to book for 2012, only row C available in the new stand at the moment though, want row A again!!

Hope you enjoyed the day- sounds fabulous!

Silverstone has submitted plans for the new buildings, hotel etc - http://www.f1fanatic.co.uk/2011/08/11/silverstone-submits-plans-development/

Silverstone has taken a further step forward with its plans for future development at the circuit.

The circuit owners have submitted a planning application to the local council to construct a series of new buildings.

They will include a business park, technology park, education campus, three hotels, spectator facilities, kart track and outdoor stage.

The new spectator facilities will include a welcome centre and a museum of motor sport.

Hmm, I'm a bit sceptical about this.

It has a whiff of the Nurburgring about it. I mean, how can they justify 3 hotels on site?

Yeah the place needs a tidy up and some new services, but I think they might be thinking the place is something its not.
