Silverstone F1 tickets?

Would be interested to know as well as we (family) might go. Only ever been to the tests before (previous three years before they took it away this year!) and a Friday practice about 10yrs ago.

yeah, thats the thing. going to take my boy and dont want to be standing around for hours from very early in the morning, keeping a space.
want to enjoy the whole day, which can only be done by buying a seat :]

Kind of depends on what happens with the layout/pits for this year. Normally I'd go for Woodcote, as far round towards the pit straight as you can get. This would give you views of Priory, Brooklands, Luffield, Woodcote, the Start and pit entry at pretty close quarters, the finish line and the entry to Copse at a distance and a big screen, can't really ask for more. If they are using the proposed new layout you'll lose Priory but will be able to get the cars heading directly towards you down the national straight. If they move the pits/start finsh for this year (which would be ambitious - I'm guessing that's planned for future years) then this spot would obviously lose a lot of it's appeal.

From sitting in most of them at other events, I would suggest Luffield, specifically B. Gets you a good view of the complex, and if they use the new arena layout it will give you a good view of the new posible overtaking oportuinity at Priory (or is it Brooklands?)

Anyone camped at the GP at Silverstones Camping (i.e. not Whittlebury or any other ones?) Seems cheap at £35 a head, but is this because its rubbish?

Anywhere decent to stay nearby? Or will they be booked up very soon or be too expensive? Rather find somewhere within walking / cheap taxi distance.

Thought so, that is the only problem with the track being in the middle of know where, you have to go to another town or city to stay.

How far away do you live Duke? Ive been to Silverstone for the F1 3 times and driven each time. 2 hours each way. Its not that bad really.

Advantage this year is im doing Grandstand, so no need to be there at 5:30am to claim my spot! :)

If it was one day that would be fine but all three days would be a bit much and you have to be there really early on race day too?

yeah, we went general admission last time, really dont fancy the chances of standing in the rain for hours, just to secure a half decent space.

we stayed at a hotel about 20 miles from silverstone, then drove to the park and ride. was nice and fast to and from the track.
only thing that took time was getting out of the park and ride!

I've purchased tickets for my first GP at Silverston. Got tickets at Luffield B stand.

Anyone have any tips or advice on things to do during the day etc? As I've never been to race event means I don't really have a clue what goes on etc.

as said, food and drink are a great idea, only take what you will use as you will do a lot of walking around the circuit.

Friday practice and support races are great to watch as the track is very green and you get a lot of offs, so don't miss out!

Saturday, support races and Quali I would walk around till quali, see some of the track you may have missed then grab a seat in Luffield.

Sunday, take lots of beer and food, sit all day watch the races and wait for the main event(2 hours before the f1 race starts from the last support race ends, well was at spa last year) Then cross your fingers Lewis and Button dont collide before your corner!(like they did for skeeter and me at spa :( )

last few years there were support races after f1 and a party in the paddock afterwards.

I think grandstand seats at silverstone give you a roaving grandstand access on friday and saturday, so while you have a named seat for you on sunday, you can watch qualifying from wherever you fancy.

Silverstone always have some support races after the F1 and then they now have a traditional music concert after. Be the first year ive stayed for it this year.

Im going for the 'bring a bag full of beer, buy food at the track' aproach. I know burgers are not the healthiest or cheapest option, but warm squashed cheese sandwitches arent to good eaither :)

Cheers for that!

I'll definitely be loading a backpack with beer and food then!

Can only make the Sunday so won't get to experience the others days but hopefully there will be plenty happening on the Sunday.

Got my tickets for Copse D, I have sat everywhere else for the GP near enough over the last few years. Very much looking forward to it already! Fingers crossed they will approve the Arena circuit and I can watch Qualifying in there.
