Silverstone Fortress FT02B-W Owners, Your thought's please!!!

For such a big case, sometimes it looks pretty cramped in there. I.ve seen a few youtubes where one fan needed modding in order to fit the the GPU. £200 case that needs modding to fit a graphic card, seems like its a bit behind the times.

What video card did this person fit in the youtube vid? I have not read about anyone having t modify the fans.

I have a 6950 and have a tad under 2 inches space to the fan! Before that I had an 4870 and the pci-e connectors awere at the bottom of the card and not the side and still had room:confused:

ps, The Raven 02 is only a few mm biger than the FT02.

It will take any GPU though for the longest cards on the market you may have to remove the fan grill.

Thats my point, the way things keep getting bigger pretty soon they will have out grown this case. Just look at the size of cards 3-4yrs back and compare them to todays.

any of you guys changed the fans on your FT02?

do you even need to? need quietness ;)

I've got a silver FT02 with the AP fans - I have to admit that even on low I find the a little bit noisy - not obtrusively so, but just present in the background.

I've got a few of the 7v fan resistors on the way, so am going to try them out with the fans (the 180mm and maybe the 120mm - though that one does seem really quite quiet).

I'm hoping that I can run the fans with the built in High/Low fan controller, plus the resistors to bring the speeds down, but still have a high/low option. Not that the case gets warm (i5 750 @ 3.6ghz and ATI 5850)

It's a cracking case otherwise - cable management took a bit of thought, but then again, so does any cable management.

Might pop some pics up later.

Cheers,

Rich

Just a quick follow up - I got the resistor (7v Zalman ones) and they seem to work - however, the resistors actually seem to get reasonably hot. As they're against the side panel (with the sound proofing foam), I've decided against using them for the moment as I don't necessarily like the thought of them being up against the foam.

Any thoughts if they're supposed to get so warm?

Cheers,

Rich

Hello,

Im plannning on using this case with a sandybridge I5 2500k with the Corsair H50 , as the sandybridge chips run cooler will the Corsair be good enough to clock the chip to atleast 4.2-4.5 Ghz? Main reason for using the Corsair is to keep the Cpu socket area clear. As I plan to upgrade to use all 4 slots on a Asus P8P67 Pro and all the air coolers I look at block 1 or nearly 2 of the ram slot.

Any other suggestions would be great.

PS planning on using the Corsair vengeance ram.

Thanks.

I use a Megahalem with Apache fans and the clips that hold the fan are flexible enough to lift it over the RAM so all 4 slots could be used if needed. I guess this would depend on what RAM you use but my ripjaws would be ok

+1. Have nearly the same setup as above. Was thinking of using a H70 originally but from a reliability standpoint i just settled on a Megahalems. Nothing is going to go wrong with a solid piece of metal + no noise + just as good cooling.

Awesome have you got it fitted?

I checked the h70 dimensions against the H60s and I think it will too.

H70:

Width: 120mm
Height: 152mm
Depth: 48mm

H60: 120mm x 152mm x 27mm

So its only the width thats different in size and I have seen pics of the H70 fit into the Ft02. So YAY.

Yeah, I'm using the H70 with the FT02 as I type this :D

What differences are there between the version 1.6 and version 1.7 on the FT02b-w?

The only thing I can figure out is that I dont have the hexagonal grills on the 180mm fans.

Pics are on their way-

I have yet to fully purchase and build my system- waiting for the new Z68 Motherboards and next months pay so I can afford an SSD.

Thats unless you want pics of just the fans/case?
