sim city 4

Oh, and I think I actually prefer SimCity 3000 - you could just choose a huge map and go wild.....I always feel penned in with SimCity4.

I personlly love sc4 for the traffic problems, i love solving stuff like congested roads, in sc3k i'ts too basic and there wont be such advanced traffic problems.

Besides sc3k looks way too bad imo, and sc4 has really a lot of mods, my mod directory is like 2 gb's now of extra buildings, mods, new water textures, new trees, canals, etc...

Andr3w: Have you checked the 2nd link in my previous post? It shows a guide of part by part how to expand your city, you can't go wrong if you follow it :) , from a small village to a large city, step by step, i really recommend it.

2 more pics of that city the pic before was of ( oh and yes they were made before that 1st picture in my previous post, hence some buildings in my 1st picture were done while stile under construction in one of these 2):

that website and that link is fabulous!!

I know, when i first found that site i was downloading from it all day and watching the city journalls all night on their forums, the stock game doesnt compare to how good sc4 can be :) .

I read the think, it took me about 90 minutes to read lol :p

There are so many confusing things about this game

what do ahh the "R-$, R-$$, I-D, IM, IHT" and all the rest mean?

And with the RCI bar, if the green bar for example is really high above the line, does that mean they WANT more house's? If the yellow bar is high they want more jobs/industry and if the blue bar is high they want more shops?

edit: i have a problem with the network addon mod, when i click one of the new roads/roundabout etc it just crashs the game

edit2: ive also updated the game via the offical website and get this error when loading the game (i can get into the game, this error just happens everytime)

R$ poor residential
R$$ medium residential
R$$$ Wealthy residential
Same with commercial kept that tehre are 2 kidns, commercial offices and services
I-ag= farms
I-D= Dirty industry
I-M= Manufacturing industry
I-HT= High tech ind.

And yes the bars show the demand for each specific type of zone, if you have a big yellow bar you need to zone more industry, same for residential and commercial.

Do you have the Rush hour expantion? If not then I'm unsure if NAM works, if it doesn't then its a real shame but i'm not sure. If needed just remore it from plugins folder and it would be like it never existed, have you read the readme btw, as you're supposed to choose one of about 20 files for stuff like the automata, and it will cause crashes i think if more chosen...

As for the error, I have no clue  , try chaning your graphics options ingame as i think it edits that file that way...

i've managed to fix the error etc and i do have rush hour just didnt install it. But i have now and realised i can build avenues, woo

ok im going to have a go at the tutorial up there ^

I cant build avenues or ferrys or monorails :(

Also cant see rush hour by itself so im going have to buy the orginal game again :(

£25!! Oh well!

Well to start Network add-on mod (whoa just noticed a new version from january 2007, wich i dont have),
If you want, get the EU road texture mod and asphalt highway mod, it removes thw ugly american yellow lines on roads and them white concrete highways.

Simgoober makes great new buildings, shops etc.., just go to the stex exchange and select his name on the right.
A recommendation to start with is stuff like macdonalds, toysRus, etc: known shops... Petrol stations too.

Realistic water mod is a recommendation too...

Theres a mod to replace the terrain and trees but cant renmber the name at the moment.

Basicly i can't recommend specific things, as i downloaded them spread over like 2 years, and just downloaded anything that looked nice...

Andr3w: Practise makes perfect ;) , took me weeks to get my 1st money earning city

I started this region (it's the Region that comes with the game) over 2 years ago, i play on and off and have breaks for months and do little bits every so often.

only mods i use are a 0 pollution power plant and a park that generates money so i can build big cities without worrying about money (more fun for me)

Currently i am going into the bigger cities and building parks and mass transit etc.

posty thats freaking amazing

Whats better to start with, making regions where one would be all homes, another all jobs etc

or just starting and making the whole city on one small map section?

Well most of my industry goes along the far right side, bottom left and top left of the region with residential and commercial mixed in the same tile/city, but in some cases like the part on the left commercial takes up the whole city/tile

I don't think so i have a few mods/add ons and the folder the city is saved to is nearly 400mb alone that would take days to upload on my connection lol

Well start with your power station and industry in one tile/city and residential/commercial in the city next to it and then keep switching between them until they are both full and then spread out into other tiles
That's how i started and when i knew how to build a city very quickly i built the region, i can build a medium/large city in about 2 hours now

i will give it a go.

The blue (commercial?) never seem to develop very well :(.

edit: one thing i want to know is when im building development areas (house/commercial/industry) do i go for the cheap/medium/expensive one's?

untitledmediumvt8.jpg

any good?

housing in the middle and industry/power/trash etc at either side?

Where should i put commercial(shops)??

Is the only thing i need in housing fire/police/hospital/education ?
and in the others just fire?

I used to like this game, but it's such a hog it's unreal.

I installed this on my new Rig and the graphics still jerk around like a bluebottle on acid. :(
