Sim racers - what are you running?

Sorry. I didn't intend to add to the confusion.

I think it's universally accepted that a good pedal set, the brake mainly, is a worthwhile upgrade.

However, I think the Moza kit is pretty good so if you've got a full working setup then go have some fun.

Thanks for the reply.

Your reply has made me doubt a hell of a lot about SIM racing setups etc. Not what u said directly but more after hours upon hours of reading and research etc I came to the conclusion that load cell pedals were the holy grail as such and offered more precise control over the breaking ( the crp pedals with break kit I always go overshooting at corners and this is not a problem I had of noticeable impact with the g29 pedals with mods.

Being honest is their any point paying a grand for top end pedals of they don't really help anyone improve at all??

Load cell pedals is a must but anything above that is not really necessary

Racing at Suzuka this week. Really struggling. I don't know if there's not many people doing it but I keep getting placed in the top split and unable to match the pace of the others. I've fluked a fast lap once in quali but i've no idea what I did different to find2 seconds! It really is a momentum track.

I was just in the same race as popular streamer Matt Malone. I got featured in his post race Turkey Time Line (green Toyota at the end). So far the highlight of my career. lol.

Have you thought about using a data tool like VRS? You can analyse your laps against others in impressive detail. It’s a small fee if you want to use it across several race series but they do also provide great delta laps from professional racers and I’ve found it’s extremely useful to gain 1second+ on my pace.

Cheers. I've actually used the Garage61 app. At this stage even with data i'm not able to replicate the lap times. I've watched several hotlaps. Ok, break here, turn here, this gear at that apex etc.. No good for Suzuka. Lime Rock last week I was on the pace though. I'm hoping this is just a bogey track for me.

I have zero knowledge of racing sims but as I'm buying a new gaming pc in May. I'd ideally want to go all out with a good steering wheel and pedals for racing games as well. I've been googling and checking out youtube reviews, I'd probably spend £600-1000.

Is the Moza 5 the ideal choice for my price range?

The last time I had a racing wheel was for Metropolis Street Racer on the dreamcast

£600/£1000 per component or total? Including he PC? I posted my spend a few pages back. It might make you wince. The Moza gear has come along and is respected. Check out the Boosted Media video I posted in this thread recently.

I'll check it out thank you :).

Just for the racing sim components, the rest of the pc will be a seperate purchase. Mainly because most of the reviews I came across don't really rate the lower price bracket options. I'd rather get something that actually delivers a great experience from the get go, even if it comes at premium pricing.

Ouch, however I don't think my setup is much different to Daves. So I'm nearly £20k up :)

Your set up is nice but way out of a normal budget ill slowly add if i enjoy the experience.

Was on the moza racing site earlier I can get the R9 wheelbase, steering wheel, pedals + clutch and table clamp for £891. Pretty much fits in with my budget requirements.

If I enjoy the experience I can slowly start adding all the other extras for the best experience, and upgrade in the future if I need that extra performance.

@Personality+ bear in mind that the Moza site doesn't include VAT etc.
Oh didn't see that bit, seems the best balance for price and performance I'm after, while probably going a little over budget.

But if anyone has other recommendations let me know, I won't be buying anything until some point in May or June.

I can see how people end up with such expensive set ups now at least.

Have you also budgeted for a rig, or are you planning to desk mount?
Yeah I keep changing my mind between a 7800x3d set up or a 13900ks set up + 4090.

Either way I'm probably going to end up spending 6k once it's all done, including a new monitor either 27" 1440p 240hz oled or 49" UW Oled G9 whenever that's announced + new desk and chair.

And I'll have it mounted on a desk, but to be honest I don't mind paying extra if there are decent solutions with a seat in a reasonable price range. But I'm too out of my depth at that point.

I've been back and forward with myself over my next purchase for my setup. Initially I ordered a Fanatec DD1 (To replace my GT DD Pro) but quickly cancelled it. It seems that the DD world has made huge steps in the last 2 years leaving it (and the DD2) behind.

So with that in mind. I ordered myself some shiny new Asetek Invicta pedals (Brake and accelerator only) to replace my Fanatec Clubsport V3s. They arrived yesterday so of course had to get them on the rig. Turns out I need to drill a couple of holes as only 2 on the pedal plate line up with my cockpits pedal deck. Gave them a go anyway. Awesome.

Not the best week to get back into iRacing really. Between the car and track combinations and me not having all the tracks purchased I think I'll just spend the week doing the GR Cup at Spa to get used to the new pedals.

I got a set of Meca Evo1's the other day and promptly boxed them up and sent them straight back after less than ten laps  I couldn't get along with the spring that's meant to simulate pad-disc gap stuff and adding lots of preload kind of defeated the object. I also found that I don't like a curved brake pedal face.
Going back to my modded DC2's, I found that I actually really like them after all and that I'd have to spend an awful lot of money to get a significant upgrade.
