Sim racers - what are you running?

Anyone here got experience with Pineapple Grips? The blue fabric on my F1 Podium is starting to give up the ghost, and I like the look of their large circle embossed faux leather...

Hi guys, i have many questions and was hoping you could help out with them. I'm just starting out here but committed to just getting most of the kit right away (at least rig wise anyway). Spent a good few hours on a friends CSL Elite setup and I'm just interested in doing it all myself. Probably start out with getting the rig choice locked in and then go further.

I have seen two rigs in my couple days of research that stand out, that is the Sim Labs P1-X and the Trak Racer TR160. My reasoning for going straight to these is pretty much buy once and done. Do owners of either of these two have any input to which may be the better choice? or Why anyone would choose one over the other?

My second question being about the monitor mounting options, i have a 42 inch Asus OLED that i will probably use for the time being and was wondering if either the integrated mount or freestanding mount (simlab or trak racer) were a better choice, not only for this monitor but also future monitors (potentially that massive curved LG oled)

Also I'm a bigger guy (192cm and 110kG), I'm guessing some seat options are going to be a no-no in terms of their width etc, if anyone is of similar size could share their opinion on seat choice that would be great.

Sorry if this is the wrong thread to post in, I'll gladly make a dedicated one to not spoil this if that would be preferable

I'm a P1X user, I just dont think you can go wrong with it. A free standing mount removes any FFB from the wheel from buzzing the screen and if you add bass shakers in the future so I would go with that.

Enjoy, this should help.

I'd go the Sim-Labs P1X route. Unfortunately I was impatient when buying and went down the Trakracer route. Should have just waited until the SimLabs was back in stock.

Good point about the integrated monitors, i’ll check out the videos too.

Any specific reasons for while you should have waited? Does the trak racer not live up to your expectations?

My brother has a TR160, I have a Sim Lab GT1 EVO.

Honestly, having used both rigs extensively, I really couldn't tell you a difference in operation. Personally if buying again, I would probably go for the Sim Lab P1-X just because of brand identity, but both are rock solid and lend themselves well to future upgrades (It's a slippery slope sim racing!)
My monitor is integrated (34" 21:9) and I'm not honestly sure if a 42" monitor would work on an integrated mount personally. My next upgrade is to triples and that will be on a free standing mount. Maybe consider your upgrade path and you might not need to spend twice.

Seating wise, I have a Sim Lab Speed 1. It's a great seat and I'm 185cm, 95kg. They do an XL version which might suit your needs :)

Thanks for the seat advice, i’ll check out the XL one. Sim labs seems to be peoples choice even from reddit/youtube comments i’ve gone through, do you pay duties ordering from them does anyone know?

it also does seem like a freestanding mount would be better too yes. I was concerned about the size of my 42 on the integrated mounts as they seem to jus be about comfortable with UW screen heights, and as said previously eliminates potential ‘bounce’ from wheel etc.

There is a good chance you'll pay import duties/fees if ordering direct from Sim Lab. However, the prices will reduce to remove local taxes at checkout.

Checkout Pure Sims, owned by BTCC driver Ash Sutton and they stock lots of gear, including Sim LAb. So you can at least buy without hte risk of any further fees.

As a GT1 Evo owning tall guy (195cm), the main distinction that actually matters in my opinion vs the P1X is that the P1X offers better adjustment for dialling in your wheel distance independent of the pedals. This doesn't matter if you're using a pedal plate on extra profile or runners though.

Does anyone else find that the wheel on Logitech devices is too small? Making fine adjustments really difficult for instance in a slide, its much harder to control?

Playing SRP AC last night and noticed whenever i go into a slide or the car gets abit squirmy, its really difficult to hold it as small movements tend to translate to huge adjustments in game. I could probably turn it down somewhat in settings but i feel a bigger wheel would be the better option?

Hi all, looking to buying a simlabs p1x but I'm having issues understanding the details around a seat and making sure one fits me.

What are the main things I need to look out for/ measure?

I'm 5ft8 not exactly skinny lol

Thanks!

Look at the spec of the seat dimensions and measure your body against it and compare
