Sim racers - what are you running?

They are making a screen less Hyper P1, the Hyper SL.

I never really look at my wheel screen, so could be a nice option.

Same here. I think it's a waste to have a screen on a wheel but each to their own.

I think it's better to use a old mobile phone housed on top of your wheelbase running simhub

I’ve got a Grid DDU5 at the minute, I love having the information it displays (I use lovely dashboard) & the RPM lights, but I think I’d prefer it on a wheel and move the DDU over on top of a button box, a bit like a GTE cockpit layout.

You wont be disappointed by the Prime, I'm loving mine so far, absolutely solid! Thats the benefit of profile rigs you can use any seat with them. Just make sure you get the right mounts.
Hey Steve,

Just looking at ordering up the prime, The wheel deck on it??, do you think the Fanatec DD base that you can order will fit the Clubsport DD+ I have on order they look very similar to me?? what do you recon?

As in the Fanatec Podium DD side mounts? If so then I think so, but I couldnt say 100%, I'm not overly familiar with Fanatec and their fitting standards. From what I gather the DD+ is base and side mount compatible. Unless they have gone full ****** and produced a brand new sidemount standard it should be DD side mount compatible, unlikely they would have changed it but I certainly wouldnt put it past them.

Thanks for the super fast reply, The clubsport does look like the normal Fanatec GT DDpro just longer so I would assume it also fitted. If possible would rather it mounted between rather than sitting on top.

If you are concerned about stiffness, I really wouldnt worry about that because with the Wheel deck it sure as hell aint short of that. Even running 21nm there is no noticeable flex, its a chonky bit of metal.
However if you are thinking about it from an aesthetic perspective, I get it!

No it's purely aesthetically. I'm sure it's plenty stiff with either. I just think it looks better.

Just updating since I've got to a position where I'm pretty pleased with build progress. Even picked up my first win in a long time in the RF2 online beta!

I've a few small things to address - mount for StreamDeck XL, LED brows, Buttkicker (once they're in stock in the UK again), mounting the Racelogic/Lumirank differently to make way for a button box.. it's never ending isn't it!

Thanks, it's not a real Racologic though (I couldn't spring to that either!) It's a clone from a company called SimPush. I think it was about £120 from AliExpress. It's aluminium and the buttons on the front are real to cycle through the pages.

Ha! So it is! I like really that, might have to look into that at some point, reasonably affordable too!
Pedals first though!

Looking into a cheap set up to dip my toe. Is the t300rs gt worth a buy at £299 with the GT omega apex wheel stand. The one with the tray for your chairs wheels?
Was looking at moza but the above comes in at £430 so a fair bit cheaper
Mainly pc use. Might use it on the ps5 but that's not essential

Work today meant I missed the IMSA endurance race this afternoon so thought I’d do 3 of the shorter races a go.

8 mins qualy, 35 minutes race, 8 mins qualy, 45 minutes race then 4 mins of qualy (a wee bit of an overlap between the end of the open and fixed sessions) and 35 mins race. All back to back to back. My wrists are done Sebring is a brutal track for bumps etc. Bloody good fun though.

I need to get a wee AC unit. I was a mess afterwards

I've been in the same situation and the t300 rs gt is what I was looking at. buy for £300, try and then sell on if I didnt enjoy it or if I upgraded. Resale prices look good on ebay.

In the end I went to racedepartment forum and got some advice. I've now bought a Fanatec ClubSport 2.5 wheel base with a wheel and fanatec pedals for £400. Again on the basis that resale values should be OK. I probably could have pieced together the parts separaely for less but that would take more time / effort. Reviews of the base are very positive, so even if I upgrade other parts (pedals aren't great but on par / hopefully a bit better than the thrustmaster) I'm hoping the base will be good for some time.

The wheel stand is the next thing I need to look at. I'm planning to desk clamp for now, spend a few weeks with it then decide. I have the space for a rig, so if the hobby is something I'll stick with I'll probably look at the GT Omega Prime Lite. I don't know though, the Apex stand looks good.

Blimey, some cash been spent in this thread! Now I've moved and have my own office I've dragged my Playseat Challenge & G27 out of my mums loft:

CCDYnLMh.jpg

G27 has the Leo Bodnar cable which I've done some calibration with and the usual spring + rubber insert mod. Playseat has a mount for the shifter which I mainly use for the buttons. It needs some reinforcement really, there's a good bit of play in the mounting tray and loop that sits onto. Hard braking can make the pedals shift ot you end up lifting yourself up on the point they mount to the seat. I might look into DIYing some fixes for that esp if I ever want a better wheel (the G27 dead zone with force direction is a bit naff!).

I've only fired up ACC sop far and I'm back to slow & clueless again. Tempted by iRacing, but not the cost. I'm also hoping to pick up a Quest 3 as I'ver never tried it, not just for sim racing otherwise I'd pick something else.

The office is a right mess though as I've just filled the shelves with stuff that has no official home and I've just plonked my naff Ikea desk in here so I can work. It's what used to be a detached garage converted to gym/storage, except now it's kids carnage room/my office. I need to rip out and rebuild the storage and add some decent flooring then I can figure out my desk and rig situation. If now I have a proper space to play I get more into racing I'll look into a better rig. I never had the space before as I was setup in an open plan living room with the rest of the family :(

Keep an eye out coz iRacing offer significant membership discounts on Black Friday.

Ooh good shout. I already have a few tracks and the Skippy. Not played in a couple years. Got my SA up on ACC, just need the track medals (tonight's job).
