Applying for the beta - Yes
Getting an invite if you've already applied - No, wont know till Friday, the first of the 4 day beta test :(

I'd obviously like to try it, but i'll just be happy to see some extensive game footage from un-bias people (although i expect plenty of SC4 lovers, SC5 haters will be knocking about to complain about the same things they've complained about since last March) just to get some feedback on it.

Hopefully a couple of the decent YT beta reviewers will get hold of an invite to hear an honest assessment, even if it might be from a more casual user POV.
 
What annoys me about these key giveaways is that tons of people who've applied for the beta are running round like headless chicken looking for a key, and ppl like nvidia are giving them away now, and yet on Friday half those people could be given a key from EA anyway.

It just seems stupid, if EA had distributed the keys from the sign-up, and then all the other affiliates were allowed to distribute more keys to ppl at random, then fair enough, but some people will get 2. Now maybe they'll give them to their friends, or somewhere like here, but it still seems wrong that people feel the need to go key scavenging despite the fact they've no idea if the primary source of the keys will be supplying them with one.

I refuse to do the whole facebook & twitter nonsense, which seems to be the prime location for most companies these days, and i'll be damned if im 'liking' nvidia just to get access to their page to tell me they've given all their keys away.
 
That 2nd video just showcasing the curved roads and the guides, thats just made my day :D It seems so elegantly done, seeing the guides so you can follow a particular path and see what can be done inside is really nice, and the 2 arched roads were great. Very impressed with that.
Well, less than 24hrs till ecstasy or the sulks, and thats all in EA's hands. :D

I applied for the Beta when it first got announced , so will be slightly sad if i don't get a key :(


Even so, just the videos I posted have made me pre order. Not on Origin obviously..

Doesn't install require you use Origin though? Pretty sure there's no getting round using Origin for this game. Main reason I won't be getting it.
 
Yeah, i was a day 1 sign-up also, seems so long ago too, and for what... 4 days testing, of which you can only play for 1h before it stops and you start again. Thats a demo, not a beta.
But, its better than 6 weeks of nothing.
m4rk, pretty sure he means he didnt pay Origin prices


oh and another edit - ppl who've bought from Origin shouldnt have to scrap for invites, seeing as they've already paid for it, 6 months ago in my case.

Ah right, ok. Makes more sense now.
 
i was excited for this........... until i watched videos just now and saw the pathetic size of the city limits. the game should be called "simvillage".

also cities aren'y adjacent like they were in SC4, so there are big empty gaps between them with no buildings. it just looks stupid.

:(
 
The beta videos on the previous page do seem to suggest that this is more 'Sim Village' than SimCity.

Is that just me, or will they actually allow bigger cities to be built..
