SimCity V (2013) - screens/artwork and information

I doubt anyone knows, but the city tile set, it says :

Watch the streets, homes, businesses, and vehicles around your landmarks start to take on the flavor of those countries.

My question, won't it look silly if you have British style houses and streets at one location, then French housing and streets in another for example? I wonder how it will work.

I think it could be pretty cool actually.

You often get noticeable changes of architecture in different areas of big cities.

It will look cool no doubt. However at the end of the day the Eiffel Tower and Big Ben mixed into one very small area; influencing different areas in the same city will look very strange indeed. It's clearly a small difference for the price of a whole game. It's such a rip off that to deny it is on the same level of blaspheme!

Taking away the jokes though; if you bought this you really are supporting EA's bullcrap way of doing things. It's such a small enhancement... no 'legit' publisher would try and pull off this crap.

This is my dilemma, I really want the game but I despise EA and their attitude to gamers.

every large city has differing architecture, go to NYC its very varied in manhattan, Greenwich village looks totally different from downtown. I suggest your rant is therefor total rubbish.

The thing that I'm not sure on is that putting down the landmarks will not only change the buildings, which isn't too much of a problem, it's that it will change the streets and vehicles.

But from looking a bit more at the screenshots, it doesn't look too bad. Although it appears the British vehicles still drive on the wring side of the road :D

I kinda wanted the Berlin edition (which is the one you get here in Norway) for the high speed train but I still don't think I will :p
I saw this picture today. The way the city (or town...) has big empty spaces around it look so bad!

Was looking at this on-line on the purple highstreet store and they list on the Limited Edition to allow you to oversee upto 16 cities.

Now I do not know if this is true as I can't seem to find it referenced elsewhere, anyone know if this is true?

Does anyone know if this is true? How many cities can you manage without the Limited Edition?

You can play in 10 different regions, all of which can hold up to 16 cities so, in principle, 160 cities :)

Looks really silly. Far too small.

You should be able to build one large city on the entire area visable in the screenshot. As it stands this is more like simvillage/small town.

Yeah it looks like a city of that size would take 5 minutes to make.
Something that abysmally small shouldn't have ever been there, I just hope the biggest is "big" enough.

Have they even put the effort in to make cities look connected?

But you can't make large cities in simcity.

Nevertheless, the price for such a small thing is ridiculous.

I am really liking the look of this game, I can see the thinking behind the smaller zones and linked cities - I always do that in SC4 anyway.

I like the look of the engine and the curvey roads and I can even live with origin if I really have to... but there are some things that really worry me and I am wondering if anyone can put my mind at rest...

1. Always on internets? You mean I cant put this on my lappy and play on the train? Can I not even start the game with internet and then disconnect? I may have a decent enough conn at home but its not always stable and often loose conn from time to time. What happens then? Does the game just stop working?

2. No water and power other than in the roads? I always liked fiddling with my pumps and pipes...

3. The price! I mean they want the best part of 70 sheets for the game and a few texture building packs? REALLY? My plonker feels like its being pulled.

4. No teraforming?

1. Correct. Either tether your mobile/buy a dongle or tell EA where to shove it and play something else.

2. To be fair it was a pain in the arse. SC4 was better than the older versions. Water pipes in SC2000 were horrid IIRC. Now it's there but easier to manage.

3. Don't buy it through the evil that is Origin then (and deny EA some extra profit). Optical media is available, as are alternative code resellers.

4. Dunno.
