As penski has said, £8k is about average for a good 'un. I've seen the following figures quoted a lot:

Poor condition - £2500
Average condition - £6000
Excellent condition - £10000

And the widow was only looking for a grand....*sigh* whoever bought it for £3k got a bloody bargain.

Can't believe you left it over night to think about it, for a grand I would have had it there and then, and if I didn't have the cash on me for a serious deposit I would have left her my right testicle as insurance. :p
 
I left it overnight to think about it; also to check insurance...I was getting quotes of £2800-3k TPO.

That 6-series is stunning, although the BMW for me overall has to be the E46 M3 Cabriolet.

rather amuzingly after posting in this thread i drove home and what should a see just by my house :D just looks like any other 3 series i'm afraid, with extra stick on tat and a sales rep driving

They're a bargain at the moment, really taken a beating value wise.
 
To me the e46 copue doesnt really look much better than the saloon, unless it's an M3.

Fox, it's not natural for a guy in his early 20's to lust after comfort and refinement. Leave the dull, sales rep crap till later in life.

Comfort, refinement, equipment levels, looks, handling, performance, fun...

I want a single car which will be 'good' at everything I would ever want to do with it.

Want to just pop to town? No problem.
Want to drive 2000 miles around Europe? No problem.
Want to blast across the moors? No problem

etc etc :)

The E39 delivers that, for me anyway :)

Just becuase it's a saloon doesnt mean it has to be dull, IMHO 231bhp, RWD and 0-60 in 6.something seconds is considerably less than dull than a warm hatch or whatever else I'm supposed to own at my age :p

That's totally my philosophy towards cars. When i'm old and crap i'll have a big barge. When i'm young with no kids (that i know of) i'm going to avoid lardy cars for aslong as possible :cool:

Sorry, but BMW's do nothing for me.

My old boss was a sales director, he had one, my uncle is a marketing director and he has one, my bank manager has a BMW.

Spotting a trend? In my experiance, all BMW's are owned by people who occupy jobs that are, undersirable. If I see a 530, then a 545, I know the person driving the 545 hit a higer sales target, or sold more light bulbs last quater. :p :p ;) ;)
