Singapore Grand Prix 2015, Marina Bay - Race 13/19

Rosberg is such a non-entity and such a waste of that Mercedes seat.

What I wouldn't give to see him ditched for Alonso! They'd save a fortune too as Alonso would drive for free, both to have the fastest car and the chance to get "revenge" on Hamilton for 2007 :D

THing with Rosberg is he's complaining or saying nothing interesting, he has almost no personality. When he tries to be funny he isn't. Kimi doesn't say much but he still shows a distinct personality, makes jokes. He's supposedly great off camera just not comfortable on it. Rosberg speaks plenty he just has nothing to say.

Even Mika was funnier and showed more personality than Rosberg. He's also a dull as dishwater driver, can barely overtake, isn't aggressive, doesn't even try. LIke in China he didn't try to pass Hamilton, complained he was too slow and after the races said his tires would have been destroyed if he tried. A race later and Hamilton spent 15 laps tucked up under Vettel's wing, no tire destruction at a track with worse tire deg. He tried, Rosberg didn't. Outside of decent one lap pace Rosberg is a poor driver in a currently great car.

EDIT:- Interview with Alonso will be interesting today, "so do you regret leaving Ferrari", "no I don't want to fight for second places, only time they win is when Mercedes screw up", "errrm......." .

I don't think Alonso would drive for anyone for free, I think the move to Mclaren was entirely about money, initially trying to get more out of Ferrari, Ferrari not really loving his attitude already, moving to nab Vettel and leaving Alonso with no choice but Mclaren. Fact is a LOT of the reasons Ferrari are fast today were put in place long before Alonso moved. The ex Merc ERS car, the Merc fuel guy, a couple of other key guys, the change in direction of the engine, Allison, another Lotus guy, the Haas deal and the aero cheating thing they are doing. Ferrari looked to have made all the right moves and right decisions, sure they may not have paid off but the clear changes were obvious. Same way Merc had made the right changes and Mclaren looked to have made all the wrong ones. New chassis, new engine, rushed engine, new collaboration, that was never a short term fix but a short term disaster.

What do you mean "even Mika"? He's probably the most jovial of all (decent) drivers in recent times, after Berger.

What I meant was he has that Kimi/Finnish/quiet side to him but showed a lot of personality at times. Both he and Kimi could seem to lack personality at times is what I was getting at, but it still shows clearly at others. Rosberg just honestly at no stage in the past almost decade has shown any.

So also confirmed that Sainz hadn't given Verstappen an advantage like Kvyat had for Ricciardo(or the other way around) earlier in the year. It was akin to Hamilton and Rosberg at Hungary last year, Sainz had fresher tires, they thought he might be able to get Perez but Sainz couldn't actually catch up to Verstappen so same deal in not letting him pass.

Oh and lol at Jenson - king of one liners, "you may as well tell me to rub my belly and pat my head" when being asked by his engineers to save his car from dying.

Made me chuckle that :D

Button is an idiot for doing that, Maldonado had him he then basically pushed him off track then hit him into the next corner. I know you want to fight but that was easily avoidable by Button and he's screwed himself completely now.

Maldonado likely looking at points and having not done anything wrong... if he gets a puncture now that would be a shame.

I haven't watched any replays - watching footy atm and recorded the rest of the F1 programme - the stewards issued no further action though so surely Button wasn't as at fault as you summised?

You can tell Button will not be driving in F1 after the end of this season, his flippant remarks in the cockpit, yesterdays interview and that bit of bad driving tell a story.

He made the same remarks last year, I think it's probably frustration more than anything - didn't Alonso "lose" it in Canada over team radio? They're world champions fighting around in 15th place. I think McLaren can understand them if they get a bit sarcastic/short/frustrated.... if they didn't get frustrated I think McLaren would be quite a bit concerned, did you happen to think about that?......

He drove directly into the back of him, stewards are completely awful in general. Plenty of them would not punish certain drivers while being enthusiastic to punish others.

The other way around Maldonado would have a penalty, I'm 100% certain of that. Button is loved and rarely gets a penalty. There is also the "how badly is the other driver effected" part. If Maldonado had pulled up at the next corner with a broken car or lost a minute to a puncture there would likely have been a penalty for Button, when the car hit seemingly gets away without serious problems they are much more lenient.

Button says Maldonado drove him off at the previous corner, very hard to tell from the replay as the camera angle of the corner in question is from low and behind. Button looked like he was losing ground and somewhat over enthusiastically threw himself up the inside. It was still the next corner, Maldonado had to take the inside and a very sharp turn so was just much slower to make the turn and Button accelerated first.

Good job by the top 2 and Kimi up there too, although I don't rate him all that. Expect normal service to resume at Suzuka but maybe a bit closer than it has been?

Also, not sure how the BBC coverage was (whenever it is shown), but Sky was just a big circle jerk over Verstappen.

Any word on who the numpty on the track was?

Button's assessment :

"The Lotuses were so slow," said Button. "I tried down the inside, but I don't know where Maldonado thought I was going to go.

"I don't think he brake tested me but he didn't accelerate.

"I drove into the back of him so you could say it was my fault, but he didn't accelerate out of the corner - very very strange.

"He was obviously trying to block the inside line - and the corner before that he just drove me off the circuit.

"If there had been a brick wall there I would have been in it.

"I don't know what he was trying to do - maybe put me in the grandstands. He gave me no room.

"You can't do that in F1, especially around a circuit like this - but it's not the last time he'll do it.

"Here, you've got to have two people that understand distances in battle, and the people I was racing with didn't seem to know that in terms of giving space.

"Very strange. He hasn't changed, and he won't ever change."
