I actually feel a bit sorry for Palmer this weekend. Every reporter is going to be asking the same question over and over again. Granted, he hasn't performed well and Hulk has schooled him but he can't seem to catch a break!

I don't feel sorry for him at all. He's performed very poorly all season and fully deserves to lose his seat. Today, yet again, he went out a whole session earlier than Hulkenberg.

Unfortunately he won't lose his seat before the end of the season. He obviously has a contract and, whilst they might want to buy him off, he doesn't care about money as Dad is minted and he knows his only chance of staying in F1 is to do well the remaining races and hope one of the minnows picks him up when Daddy waves some money at them. If he's out before the end of the season, he knows that will never happen and his career in F1 is over.

How much money does Kubica bring to the table? I can also imagine him being given a go just to see if they can score some points to move up the constructors' table.

Shimmy you do these race in and race out. You're the hero the motorsport part of the forum needs but doesn't deserve!

He is just too slow. I mean, majorly slower than Hulk.

Almost a full second slower at a track that is almost entirely mechanical traction.

Indeed, and Renault are showing signs in the last 4/5 races of becoming the best of the rest (after Red Bull, Ferrari and Mercedes) this season. Palmer is just wasting that seat. He has 0 points!

Not really after this track. Most favour Mercedes.

Sepang has slow corners where Ferrari are ok.
Suzuka maybe Mercedes would have an edge.
Austin also has slow corners where Ferrari are better.
Mexico maybe Mercedes would have an edge.
Interlagos, I'd put my money on Ferrari because of the configuration of the track and not enough fast corners.
Abu Dhabi is similar to Sochi, so also Ferrari will be ok.

As much as it pains me to say it. I just don't think Palmer is cut out for F1.
He is still a great driver and in the top echelon, but even in the top there are degrees. He is just not quite high enough to hang about really.
Perhaps the car does not suit him, or he is not really getting equal service to Hulk, but in F1 there are no excuses. The teams seem to know when someone is out performing a car, even when drivers are on unequal terms.
People talk and whispers are rife between the teams.
No one in the know seems to think much of Palmer apparently.

I think Palmer was unfortunate to be in a manufacturer team. Had he been in something like Sauber or Williams and not many would have noticed. Plus Hulk has been absolutely working so hard with that Renault. You only have to look at the qualifying record vs Palmer to see that.

That was a great qualifying.
The sense of speed with the on board cameras is great on such a tight track.

Shame the race is unlikely to be as exciting.

Track is soaking wet after a heavy burst of rain this morning. Some chance of rain during the race also. Porchse supercup was delayed because the rain was so heavy.
Sounds promising, some rain and Vers taking the lead on the first corner might make for a bit of excitement.
