surely utd can only go down hill from here.

There's really no reason to suggest that, while we've been in the fortunate position to have had one of the best for as long as we have Real, Barca, Bayern and others have all enjoyed continued success all the while constantly changing their manager. It's hard to comprehend this right now but the club is bigger than Sir Alex.

“@sportingintel: #mufc sources say successor announcement "soon", and "he'll be cut from same cloth as Ferguson and Busby, and believe in youth development"”

Sounds like Moyes if that has any merit

EDIT: SSN and their sources say Moyes is indeed favourite

Surely anyone would say they believe in youth development to get the job, has Moyes actually developed a lot of youth players?!

Well there's a certain number 10 playing for us who got his break under Moyes...

I like moyes , he has done extremely well with a team that constantly loses players to bigger clubs and on his budget he has brung stabity still to that club. I would be more worried if I was a Everton fan then a united fan

Good post

Gutted.

Please don't let it be Moyes. The only way I'd want Mourinho is for a fake announcement just to see Chelsea fans jaws drop - been rubbing it in about Hazard all season..

Rubbing what in about Hazard? ;)

The sad thing is in 26 years time how many mangers will have come and gone at United? Unlikely to be anyone with as much staying power as him for a long time, if at all.

Real Madrid have had 24 different managers during that period

Haters gonna hate, moyes will do a fine job

I'm certainly willing to give him the benefit of the doubt, he wouldn't of been my first choice but it is what it is. What we don't want is supporters not willing to back the new manager like the Liverpool supporters did with Hodgson and Chelsea supporters with Benitez

No he has a love of self promotion. After a while at Manu he would talk about desire for Italy, Spain, Portugal or anywhere else when he wasn't getting his way.

Charlton didn't talk to well about wanting to work with him either...

Not sure about managing in other leagues again but he's certainly never hid his desire to one day manage the Portuguese national side...

I was thinking earlier what's the minimum we should expect of Moyes next season? Initially I thought top 4 but then christ is that how far we've fallen in the space of 2 days? So should the minimum next season be a trophy? After all Fergie always said the aim every season was to win a trophy...

(if it does turn out to be moyes) united fans should embrace the change. did you really want another season like this one? bland performances, grinding out results, dodgy subs, big money spunked on the likes of jones and cleverly? i think even ferguson knew he'd blagged this season.

Guess you want AVB out as well then?

Bland performances? Check
Grinding out results? Check
Dodgy Subs? Check
Big Money spunked on the likes of Dempsey & Sigurdsson? Check
