Skate!

Thats the worst comparison i've seen yet for PS3 to 360 (The Darkness had the record before this) Honestly the PS3 users get the demo weeks after 360 (and even then its US), the release date is weeks later than 360 and it runs worse than 360! talk about getting kicked repeatedly in the unmentionables

OOOOO, the darkness IS the worst! At least skate had motion blur on the PS3.

The darkness on PS3 was abysmal!

Just had a go on sega rally and they were identical.

Excuse the colour on the photo's as the colour settings are different for the xbox and ps3. I have since then made them the same and the colours are the same in both versions.

I think i will be getting this on the 360.
Although i preffer the PS3 controller, i like the stick positions, especially for this, the better graphics and acheivements are swaying me.

Just had a go of the PS3 demo....

It was bad!

Absolutely no Anti-Aliasing at all, framerate went iffy at times, Absolutely no Anistrophic filtering also, the main kicker with graffiti on it is just a blur up until when your actually riding on it.

Poor, very poor. Ill get some comparison pics.

Were you running it in 1080p?

Does the XBOX360 version run in 1080p?

I'm only wondering if some of these games, for example, The Darkness and Skate, which are both 1080p games, would've been better off left to 720p on the PS3, and using the extra power gained to use AA instead, and improve texture quality? (and probably improve the framerate)

Also, if games such as Skate / The Darkness are actual 1080p games, I guess they didn't feel they needed AA due to the high res? Do they therefore look more jaggy if played on a 720p TV?

Only wondering, as being a PC gamer also, I'm only too aware of the difference turning the res up can make. I mean, if you took a PC game, and played it at 1920x1080, then turned it down to 1280x720, I'm sure I'd notice one hell of a performance increase. A lot more jaggies too of course, but with AA, it would help.

Shame in the video options of these PS3 games, they couldn't have a simple option, to render at 1080p or 720p.

V1N.

EDIT: Was The Darkness really that bad? I bought it, played it through, and loved it. So it stands up on its own, but I've never seen the XBOX360 version to compare it to.

I played both at 720p.

The darkness is dire on the PS3, no AA and no motion blur at all. Im not usually one for motion blur but they did such a good job on it that it really added to the game.

After getting my new xbox just played skate - will definately be getting this, this game is awesome :D

this has been the slowest 3 weeks waiting for release day for a game EVER, someone please tell me its definitely out on the 28th and hasn't been delayed again?

The performance hit for running a game at 1080p compared to 720p is massive. I dare say it's a lot larger than many people would think and as a result, the vast majority of games are still 720p.

Tell me about it! The immense-nous of the demo is wearing off now so it needs to be released fast!

This is mighty.. I think I'll be getting this. Unless I get halo instead. Or neither. Hmm.

Hopefully mine will come on Thursday morning.

I am pretty bored of the demo now, which makes me wondered how long the full game will last as I heard there isn't much in terms of challenges, and they could get repetetive.

We shall see.

I guess it all depends on how you want to play the game. After playing so many of the THPS series I got extremely bored of the challenges I think SKATE for me is gonna be more about cruising the city and finding spots and lines and sharing them with my mates. Obviously I will want to get on with the career and complete the goals but I don't think that is what is going to hook me to this game.

Being a skater (ex skater) I think I will look at this game maybe in a slightly different light to a gamer who isn't. The demo has been a massive positive for me just looking at how long it has kept me interested in just that small section of the game and there is still the rest of the city to explore!

Got the game on pre order so hopefully going to get it this week.

Yeah I agree, it will definitely be around how you want to play the game. Like you I will definitely be spending time just cruising and doing the challenges as and when I feel like it.

I would like to do some free skating online as well, but I don't really have many RL friends that have 360's that I can do that with. I would find it a bit boring with strangers I think.

Let me know when you have got the game and hit me up on LIVE and sure we can sort out some sessions trade lines and spots and stuff.

Skate still showing as 'Estimated Delivery: 26/09/2007 - 27/09/2007' for my preorder :)

I'd love for it to arrive Wednesday!

It's been a long wait since the demo came out... I've been playing the demo almost every day still enjoying it :)

It started to lose its appeal, but then the bug to get outside the demo area hit the scene... breath of fresh air really!

Enjoying the hospital, big sewer half pipe and basketball courts for new lines etc...

For me this wont be a game that I'm going to dive straight into the storyline and finish it quickly. I'm far more likely to just skate around, find my feet and find some decent spots and lines to skate on. Find a challenge, complete it... find another area etc...etc...

Really high expectations for this, and really high anticipation too... I really, really hope this doesn't disappoint!

A fair number of reviews have not rated this game as highly as I thought it might but then I suppose they have to look at it objectively and from all gamers points of view and not just skaters and people who are interested in skating
