Skoda Superb III 4x4 280 - A sleeper’s journey – 280ps to 560ps

"Today I learned something, I wasn't aware of that, thanks! I must however be seen as knowledgeable therefore I must find an escape! Ha! We all know I meant ECU tuning, right guys? Right?"

(Honestly I have no idea why I'm being such a bitch today, I must be on the blob or something )

It's OK we all have them days... if you think I genuinely didn't know about tuning, then I find it quite funny.

My opinion on stages is that they're just modification package names.

In the focus st world some tuning companies have a package and name it stage 3 where as another tuning company package will name it stage 2.

If I had to give my own opinion on it, in relation to turbo charged cars.

Stage 1 = map + airfilter
Stage 2 = map, airfilter, catback, intercooler
Stage 3= map, airfilter, downpipe + sports cat, catback, intercooler, possibly turbo actuator and upgraded blowoff/recirc.

Anything which involved hybrid turbo, upgraded injectors to suit, upgraded fuel pumps etc as a package would probably be like a stage4/5. Its just easier naming a package in stages rather than individually naming the modifications I guess.

I agree. That is why I listed only the MQB stages. These classifications change for different car brands or even models.

Agreed. As @Micloi mentioned, MQB owners will know what I'm referring to. But I don't blame other people for getting confused.

Its OK we love you anyway (I think) :p

I used that emoji because a stage 1 / 2 / 3 tune isn't a thing unless you get an off-the-shelf map. A car should be tuned on a dyno so that the map takes full advantage of any modifications which are fitted. So that might end up being a Stage 2.64738 according to the arbitrary number system. :p

Sorry I saw your post after I had posted. It's a strange game tbh

It certainly is, I have been playing it for 28 years now and I am still learning something new every day. And I actually mean 28 years modifying cars, not that I am 28 years old (I wish :p ).

As long as you feel 28... thats the most important thing

so yours is maybe 200hp short for a 10.4 run......roughly.
what's needed...........bigger injectors and turbo and is the engine strong enough, what about the head, does it need porting?

Without opening the engine, just with bigger turbo and bigger injectors it should do 650ish. For more than that I would buy another car as, even if its done, turbo lag would be horrendous and beat the purpose of having a Skoda superb.

well there you go, said by you !

they say and it's true ``there's no substitute for cubic inches``, because you're having to really thrash the engine just to get to 600hp, a big block chevy crate motor has 600hp stock and normally aspirated too.

i'm not saying you're wrong and i dont really disagree, but when you see the ``imports`` drag racing in the USA, Honda Civics etc, they all look very tacky and Ricer and sound like total fart boxes........... it's not a car for an older person.

yous isn't like that AT ALL but the engine will be getting towards that as will the body........ if you start stripping it out..... it will end up looking like a Norris Evo, it will have to if you want it running 9s and then 8s.

I don't want to run 8s or 9s so all is good :) This is not what the car was built for really. It was made to be a fast and comfortable road car to accommodate a family but also work well on the autobahn and some weekends at Santa Pod for the surprise factor!

yea but that's not the way it'll end up if i buy it, i'll get beaten at the Pod by a scruffy looking Golf, loose my pride and end up throwing money at it............LOL because this is exactly what i'm like, i hate loosing.

it's probably why I haven't bought a fast car, i'm scared to because i'll throw money at it that i need for other things...just the way life is
