Skoda Superb III 4x4 280 - A sleeper’s journey – 280ps to 560ps

oh i know what you can do with the golfs and the DSG. they are amazingly fast.the engines pretty sweat and easy to tune .,

there has been a few decent gtrs going about for 35k is in the last few weeks. few been looking at them recently. couple 600-700 bhp. 550bhp should with a great driver do 11 secs 1/4. the skoda cant do that close and very fast still cant do that. not only that thats a stage 1 tune. costs 1 grand.to take to 590. many already have it done as its so easy.

not knocking the car as i said its amazing whats been done to it but i cant see him getting 35,000 for it. too many other great cars in that range . what id do and i understand what hes been doing to sell the car. make threads on it get it on popular videos and such. contact skoda social media . if they have any sense they may feature it. or put on social media.

good luck with the sale.

You might want to speak to Jon and the other GTR owners on this forum then, they are 650HP plus and are running around 11.1-11.5's, here on a UK drag strip that is not downhill ten second passes are proving very elusive, in fact Kindai has nightmares I think, he has 670HP and his PB is 11.1 I think.

The Stage 1/2 GTR's we see run at Pod with 550HP run around mid 11s quarters, even Owens mate with the BAD GTR with 700 plus HP does not manage a 10s pass every run, some are north of 11s, in the real world a sub 11s pass is very difficult and the only cars that seem to do it with ease are Mclarens or car so modified they've become not so nice to drive or a drag queen.

Agreed the person paying 35k is the person who wants that exact car, so very slim chance of that as for 35k gets you into a GTR, M car, AMG Mercedes, performance is only a single part of the equation, my Golf R was rapid but it was never a keeper.

Just for reference the Skoda did 11.4 and that was with 17mph headwind and with an older DSG map that had slower changes so low 11s are certainly possible.

As long as it can leave a 320d M Sport for dust at the traffic lights, that's all most people care about :p

there's a big difference between 11 sec and 10sec, 11.4 to say 10.4 is a massive power increase, it's only a second but the gap down a drag strip is huge.

a Skoda doing a 10.4 might have be be 750hp ............but it's hard to tell, because you're not breaking into the 10s are you, you're moving towards the 9s !!!!!

the Chevy Nova i saw on Youtube Santa Pod does a 9.8 and it's over 900hp, plus it's lighter than the Skoda as well

Totally agree, that's why I said low 11s and not 10.4, that would be at least 750hp or a little less and full slicks.

your car would do it easy and more too, because there's Golfs on Youtube with over a 1000hp, but it would me bloody expensive

Yes, I agree, but then over a threshold you start losing road driving qualities. My car is so smooth that if you don't step on it it's not very different than standard.

IQUOTE="Gibbo, post: 32216960, member: 6"]Not in the twisties. :D[/QUOTE]

It's not comparable to an SVR or an R8 but you would be pleasantly surprised of how well it handles with the modifications I made to the suspension. Haldex with bilstein coilovers, eibach anti roll bars front and rear, engine and gearbox mounts etc transformed the handling. And I do have reference points as I drove an extensive number of stock and modified cars in my (not too short :p) life.

Well I've run an 11.1@126 so its not beating me. ;)

The guy in the SVR held it on brake with throttle, thats a big no no, he also did not have the car in VMAX mode so I suspect he also did not soften up the suspension either, all of which are worth a couple of tenths.
I've run a lot of 1/4 miles in mine and discovered the optimal settings and hence me having a PB of 11.1@126 which is quicker than that missile of an estate the Merc. :)

11.1 is just ridiculous... :p

Put a pulley on it and get it in the 10's.

Ridiculous how having a "10 second car" isn't the song and dance that it used to be, now a nearly stock super(?) car can get there. :p

Is an F Type SVR a supercar?

I think I just need a cold day and no heatsoak on the engine and it will do a high ten second anyway.

Some say its a super car as it meets the super car criteria, 2 seats, silly acceleration, big noise, 100k plus cost and super rare in SVR form etc.
Some say its not a super car as the F-type has been diluted by having 2.0l options and is too easy to use, does not break down etc.

For me it ticks many boxes, why I took it and I can't really think of a replacement, I drive it, I smile, I laugh and it still shocks me how fast it is.
I was driving the Aston on Saturday which is a 420HP 4.7l V8 which is not a slow car but compared to the SVR it feels very slow, the beauty of the SVR is it feels massively over engined due to the instant response and instant torque the supercharger gives. Whereas the Aston feels tame but in a way does sound a bit better, but the Aston drives like the Mustang did but with nicer steering and nicer balance.

dont you believe that, a 10.4 will be REALLY fast LOL, yes you see Golfs and Evos doing 8.6s nowadays but they go down the strip swerving all over the place, you need really big **** to handle something like that.
