Skoda

Whenever you google or search forums for "remap" and "1.8T" 8 times out of 10 R-Tech and Nick are reccomended.

I like the fact that each car he maps he treats individually, he doesn't just whack a generic map on and leave it at that. The problem i have when i think about APR (Currently got an APR Trial map on) is that they just load the map on and thats it.

they are raging geeks at rtech. they are still developing their 1.8t maps.

as for APR though, when i was looking at maps for the S4 and then the 1.8t, their plots always seem to come out well (ie opposite of revo, which i absolutely hate) they do without the stupid spikes and come out with usable torque

Don't get me wrong, i haven't read much wrong with APR. Well, there was a bit about checksum errors caused by a disgruntled ex-employee (apparently) however that is supposed to have been sorted now.

What attracts me to R-Tech is, as you say, he is very much into the VAG engine range, particularly the 1.8T. He just seems to be constantly looking for ways to develop/improve his maps :)

Lol, I chuckle to myself when I look at this thread.

My mates thought I was MAD when I bought my Octavia.

It was sadly written off last year :(

I know it's back on the road however, please let me know if anyone see's it.

indeed.

Looks nice. Should be able to get him down to 6k/near 6k i would have thought.

Well the same thing happened again Jono, it sells the day before I go to view it! Happened for the last 3 cars I've seen! 'She' told me that she sold it for £6200.

Nothing else on the cards at the moment!

SWG Vent Pod and Gauge installed today, it's a smoked gauge so dark when off, white during the day and green when I turn the lights off...

Works well, primary use will be to monitor whether there are any boost leaks or not :)

2010 VRS or 2009 325i - both from main dealers - similar price

I'ma bit torn - mpg wise the VRS would be better - but handling wise I've no idea - each is quite a long journey away otherwise I'd just test drive both

had a look at a few Octavia and Fabia VRSs today

06 and 10 plate Octavias and 06 plate Fabia

have to say - as nice cars they were - I thought the interior on all of them didn't seem to wear well ? plastics where it seemed that the outer "colour" had worn away in places, seats seemed to have pulled threads etc - cars seemed well looked after - just seemed the interior hadn't worn well

in comparison some Hondas and BMWs I looked at - inside whilst still basic - looked in much better condition

I can only vouch for my dad's 03 Fabia vRS which has done about 78,000 miles now. Apart from the white sections of the seats being slightly grubby (although not anywhere near as bad as I have seen them in other cars) there's nothing else wrong with the interior. I'd say it's worn very well considering.

The only thing letting it down by any degree is on the outside where the rear spoiler has now started to suffer from a small bit of lacquer peel which is quite a documented issue.

Depends on the owners I suppose. I look at 306s like mine which have done so-say much less mileage than mine and the driver's seat bolster is completely trashed on them with foam exposed and what-not, but I've managed to keep mine looking pretty much intact, I just take a bit more care getting in and out. A lot of people don't seem to care any more, even if the car is new.

thanks - perhaps just the ones I looked at - I looked at a few today

the 06 VRS Fabia was 6k @ 78k miles
06 Octavia was 6.5k
10 Octavia was 11k

the 06 Octavia was probably in better condition than the 10

sort of fell in love with the VRS Fabia though (apart from interior which is a bit basic) - but not sure 6k seems a lot

will look around - but not many for sale - the VRS SEs seem to go for 8.5k which even more so seems a lot for the car really - most are high-ish (>60k miles) too

as a comparison - and yes - I know its not really a 1:1 comparison, but the EP3 Civic Type-Rs I've seen around the 6k mark, seem in better condition, they seem to wear very well.

pocket rocket bhp or pocket rocket torque

mmm

I had my Octy vRS remapped at Shark. 249 on the Dyno run - so close to the 250 :)
Car drives lovely, plenty of power throughout...but not so much the wheels are spinning every time you pull away. Cannot recommend them enough.

As for the Rapid. The Skoda line is all change at the moment.
You have:

Fabia - Still current
Rapid - Sits in size between the Fabia and the Current Mk2.5 Octavia
Octavia 3 - Slightly bigger than the current Mk2.5 Octavia
Superb - Passat sized

We should have already seen the Octavia 3, however VW wouldn't allow Skoda to display at Paris as they were too worried it might take the shine off the Golf 7.
You know....same parts, same options....but for a lot less money.

Superb is huuuuge, its even got more space than an Audi A6, I think its not based per se on any current VAG car? Even the current Octy is bigger than the Golf its meant to be based upon.

Interestingly, the interior in my 2006 VRS which i bought in August is what sold it to me! It is pretty much like new and there is literally hardly a mark or blemish in it. Its done 65k miles

I guess it just depends on how careful the previous onwers have been. I went to see two 2007 Leon Cupras, both of which looked like someone had excreted almost every bodily fluid imaginable onto the seats....
