Skoda

So, managed to finish work a tad earlier and popped to Skoda Newport (Wales) who had a couple Superb Hatch and Estate models. All SE-L spec (not hugely different to SE Business).

Took one for a reasonable test drive, with DSG box. Was very impressed, notably so with the build quality. So signed on the dotted. ~12 week wait though! Opted for the manual, would prefer the DSG but numbers didn't work on the PCH deal.

Where the numbers the same as the Simpsons deal?
Not at first but they've matched. Benefit to me being I don't have to go to Simpsons Preston to collect (Simpsons said they couldn't deliver).

It's a bloody good deal, a lot of car for the money.... Really liked the old superb too.

If I'm ever back in a position of needing to do high miles again I'd seriously consider getting one

By the same logic, they'd never release any cars. Isn't a Fabia 1.6 TDi just a cut price Polo 1.6 TDi? Isnt an Octavia VRS just a cut price Golf GTi?

No - that's just it - it isn't.
They will take things away from the specification, give certain options "only to VW"

the space in the back of these Superbs are insane!

Hi,

SE Business has:

I think it's pretty well spec'd, especially considering there are two higher trim levels. The Leather/Alcantara seats are nice. Not too sure what "small leather package" is though...

I ordered "Quartz Grey Metallic"

There's a thread on Briskoda detailing which dealers have demo cars.

Work have just put in some orders for the New Octavia Scout.

Quite looking forward to see how they compare to the last version. We've had them as a 50/50 Split with Honda CR-Vs for a while (Albeit now I don't think we're having CR-Vs anymore due to something to do with the engine capacity they offer) and they're fantastic motors to drive. They go for the Scout for the 4x4 Capability.. and the handling!!

Order for an Octavia vRS 2.0TDI in Race Blue with Red Trim placed!

Now the 12 week wait... :(.

Pick mine up from Simpsons very soon, just waiting for PDI to be completed - Metal Grey with red trim, got free factory nav too :)

Ordered at the end of May so 12-odd weeks is about right.

The same as that Simpsons lease, the Skoda dealer in Guildford matched it.

I was adding it all up and for 10k a year the Superb is much cheaper over the 2 years so I'm torn between the extra power / perceived sportiness of the VRS and how cheap the Superb is.

I mean how 'sporty' are estate cars anyway.

I'm assuming that's the old Superb rather than the new one?

But either way, they are cheap.

It's the new one. The Superb estate is £1490 and (23x) £179 a month compared to £1990 and (23x) £229 for the VRS Estate.

Test driven a mk2 estate (petrol) and liked it. Think it's a great all rounder.

What does "sporty" mean anyway? It's a b******t marketing term!

I judge a car on it's merits, which is probably why I own a Fabia vRS. Given a nice windfall I'd be down the local dealer, ordering an Octy vRS estate as soon as the cheque cleared.
