Lol, my new BT 8MB broadband is giving me a download speed of 2135 kb/s from under 50 miles away :o

EDIT: Better results if I choose Dublin or Roubaix?!?

I was remotely tempted with the £26 deal which can be had for £20 if you only choose 2 mixes for sky, the only off putting thing was according to adslguide they will not release mac keys if you decide to leave?

This may have changed with the new rules? But i found another isp with better upload speeds that suited me better, and tbh i dont watch much telly anyhows :D

Can I migrate from Pipex DSL (over phone line) to Sky BB?

It is possible but they usually only give the mac code by email, even if you phone them up. Which was no big deal for me i had the mac code the following day in my inbox (only slight problem it was invalid). You may be ok and get a valid one, if you dont get sky or whoever to chase up BT who issue the mac codes and it will be resolved eventually.

The new isp needs a mac code from you without it your stuffed ;)

I'm pretty sure I saw on the news sometime ago that legislation was coming in that will force ISPs to give you the mac code in writing within 5 working days of asking/cancelling :)

EDIT: Yep, it's in place already - http://www.macworld.co.uk/digitallifestyle/news/index.cfm?newsid=17205

Yeah thanks I have my mac code.
Btw I don't have a Sky dish. Is that ok?

As long as you sign up for the £26 package they will come and install a dish and the box to recieve the 6 mixes, you will not get it for £5 as the original post suggests :D

^^ never mind ^^

I'm not interested in sky TV channels. So what's the annual cost after the first year?

Noticed ") Subject to Fair Use Policy" at the bottom of the screen. :(

Never saw that bit anywhere? tenner a month is el cheapo must be capped to 2gb?

Anyone?

fair useage policy doesnt mean download limits

all ISP's will feature a fair useage policy. Thats where they set out you cant use your net connection to run download kiddie porn, DDOS attack other users etc...

its just some of them have a "limit" set in the fair useage policy.

but "fair use" doesnt mean "download limits"

Virgin media advert's all say "subject to fair useage policy" but if you read the small print, there's no download limits in it.

My mate gets the 'upto 8meg' Sky package next Tuesday, he lives round the corner from me so I'll see what his speeds and pings are like, but am I right in saying that if I get the upto 16meg package I'll be on ADSL max ?? I.E My speed/pings may differ from his?
