Not performing great is it? Or is 6mb OK?

I havent upgraded the broadband box for about 4 years so that may be holding it back? Im not entirely sure but its a good box so dont want to fork out £100 for a new one. Or rent one
 
Been on the max package for about 6 months now and apart from a few teething problems it's all working really well. Regularly get about 800k downloads from sites such as ATI and Windows update and to all those wondering the price does not go up after the first year. Only catch is that you're tied into a 12 month contract and you have to continue to have the TV service whilst running the BB.

For more info I can't recommend www.skyuser.co.uk enough (I don't think this counts as a competitor!), any problems I have had have been solved by the people on this site and tbh I go to them before Sky's own tech support! :D
 
Trying to get onto SKy BB here at the moment been waiting now a total of 6 weeks without Broadband as Sky/BT managed to mess up the first order, forcing me to cancel and attempt to put through another order.

So far managed to get the 1st order cancelled and all markers etc removed off the line, however some idiot at sky tryed to place the 2nd order before the 1st was cleared fully off skys database so now I'm stuck again waiting for the 2nd order to be removed as well so I can place a 3rd order.

From my experience and what i've read when it works it works well however if they mess something up then your basics screwed for a very long time as the communication between skys BB departments is no existent with seemingly their only method of communication being via Email, so each department chooses when and if they should deal with these email requests, resulting in a huge hold up when your wanting something done asap.
 
that would be why then... telewest only gave me 380K up..

what is with the shocking upload speeds they give out anyway... even 512 is still damn slow when your uploading files
 
800K im afraid... there is a thread down there about VM and their 20Mb tests..

my sis works there and confirmed that there only going to give max of 1mb up.

i would happily give up some down speed for a little up speed..
 
Im switching frmo Tiscali to Skybb on the 2nd of march(thats when my line will be live with skybb apparantly)

Got all the stuff this morning, router etc

Screw tiscali with a rusty pole covered in aids

They promised 8mb for the same price 5 months ago.

The whole business was weened on crack.
 
I'm on the Max package for a tenner a month

Been great so far and im really happy with it. have had a few small problems though so it's not flawless but then again nothing is
 
speedtest.net sucks for finding out yir bandwidth, using newsgroups or something similar is far more reliable.

1.25MB/sec for me newsleecher to giganews, 4GB to 4.7GB within 50 mins or so i cant complain :P

Thing is its never fast enough! ;) roll on 100Mb cons! :p
