Sky HD

Begbie (or anyone else who might know), do you know when the new EPG is out for the Sky HD boxes? The last I heard was Autumn - is that still the case? Anything more accurate than that available?

Will sky give me any hassle if I want to go for sky+ and then put in a skyhd box later without the hd sub?

I don't think they should really. You will need to phone them to pair the HD box with the Sky card, and they will probably try hard to offer you the HD sub. But just say no.

hey Begbie can you offer em any more help?
tried emailing and phoning. No reply to email (left phone number as well).
On the phone they say they don't have the authority to add a offer past the cut of date. when I asked to be put through to someone who could. they said no one could even managers as it's a system. Sounds like they are just fobbing me of. As the first time after putting me on hold and speaking to a different department they said they could. but then never stuck it on.

Is there any other numbers I could try, or an address for complaints.

Sorry about all the trouble mate, I have sent you another email. That should work, let me know how it goes.

They're based in Fife. I asked one of them today.

Oh and my installation is scheduled for between 08:00 and 13:00 on Saturday. I'll request a Samsung box on the recommendation of others, and see what he or she says.

The Samsung box is good - very good in fact.
However if you are planning on doing a Hard Drive upgrade on your box then you might want to avoid the Samsung unit.

I've had a Samsung HD box for a few weeks now.
Basically once you do the HD upgrade your box will reboot itself every 10 minutes :)
So far I only know of one person who has successfully managed to do a HD upgrade on a Samsung box - to a 1TB samsung HD, so the box cannot internally format the unit, up to you if this is an issue.
Nobody has managed to find a 500GB drive that can be installed yet - with the exception of the 500GB version of the supplied 320GB drive and they are in severe constraint (rarer than hen's teeth).

So if you are planning a Hard Drive upgrade and you want that upgrade to be easy and pain free, you might want to consider the Pace box instead (if you get a choice).
