Sky Planner Upgrade

Sky are rolling out the big planner upgrade from tonight I believe.

Loads of channel number changes, lots of new options in the EPG. Your own mini-EPG with 50fav channels in. When an advert of a program you think looks good is on you can press blue and it adds it to your planner.

Planner is now accessed via green instead of 0.

It also apparently cures lots of bugs in the software, espescially with Sky+ systems.

Let me know if/when you get it.

It is going to take me ages to get out of the habit of pressing 0 for the + planner. I guess I'll have to setup a button on my Harmony 885 to get me into the planner.

Changing channel numbers will drive me nuts!

Sounds interesting. It's about time they did something. I've had Sky+ for 15 months, and the only thing that's changed is the colour scheme, and me needing to put in my PIN everytime i watch something rated for adults in the daytime (which bugs me no end btw).

I hope the number changes aren't too drastic. I'm only just starting to remember them.

Same

Any idea how to fix that, as it appeared with our new sky+ box after about a week. Bloody annoying.

Isnt there an option in services to disable it??

I dont even know our Pin so I cant actually watch anything they decide to implement that option on :(

Default if I recall is the last 4 digits of your viewing card number.

Well technically Sky said that the update is coming "week commencing" 16/01/06.

Sky seem to like doing updates on Tuesdays so perhaps it will come through tonight. Different boxes get it at different times but in the past Sky+ seem to get it first. I have a Pace V1 Sky+ box. I did a forced update but am still on the old software for now.

Ive fiddled around in the setup menu, turning pin settings on, then off again to see if that works. But alas, no joy. I'm not sure about fiddling around in the 'engineers' service menu. WHat do you think peeps ?

You cannot switch it off. It's because Sky are soon to release PPV 15+ movies during the day time. Protected by PIN of course. So this PIN protection in the Sky+ software is part of that too incase you record any naughty films or just scary ones.

Apparently in the future (maybe in the latest software) you will be able to disable this. They had a lot of complaints about the current situation...

Mine was upgraded some time during the night. I've one an annoyance already - when you're watching a channel and you press record, it records everything from when you switched to that channel, not from when you pressed the record button.

The 'R' indicator on the search bar is a bit flaky too - sometimes it is there when a program is recording, sometimes it isn't so I need to go into the planner to check that it is recording.

That's always* been like that! It takes everything from up to what's stored for instant rewind! Often quite handy.

* Always being ever since my parents have had Sky+, which is about 18 months.
