Why does it cost existing members so much to upgrade to sky+ and its cheap for new customers??

whats stopping me leaving them and joining up again the next day??

;)

unfortunately.. if you read the fine print on the adverts, it says something along the lines of " for new customers only, offer not available to exsisting or returning customers "

Could go for the old threaten to leave approach. Members on here seem to recommend it, and we're gonna try it too. Believe we're going to be going to Sky for internet and phone, already have the tv and with Virgin for internet - £25 a month is getting a bit much, particularly as all the limitations are getting ridiculous.

You should definitely be able to get it cheap/er, they do like a loyalty deal now usually where by depending on how many years you've been with sky it'll lower the price of the sky+ box, normally though I find you can usually blag a cheap upgrade off them if you haggle a bit.

Kinda on topic but has anyone written a letter to Sky threatening to leave and got some kind of reduction in prices or anything?

We have the full package, TV, talk and broadband and have all the channels on TV and pay quite large amount. We then found out friends pay a lot less for the service. I think I'm getting ripped off and should have haggled when taking out the deal.

Anyone done this?

Stinky, let me know how this goes and how you go about it - we're gonna be trying this later in the week!

Gah, I never have time to ring, I get the GF to write letters :D

I wrote an email a while back and they just gave me some automated crap back.

yea, apparently calling up and saying you want to leave is the best way.

it is, sky do come down on their prices if you threaten to walk.

just say "either upgrade me for the new customers' price, or cancel my subscription" should work like a charm.

dude just ring them up right now and tell them your not happy with the cost of sky and your thinking about leaving, just blag it, tell them that your currently addressing all your out goings at the moment and you feel that unless you can cut down the cost then you feel that sky is expendable, what have you got to lose ?.

Aye, I know I should!

What if they just agree to cancel Sky? I don't want too :D

lol, just keep pushing it, explain that moneys tight and that your addressing all the luxury's that you have in your life currently, it's what I say, works like a charm, if they don't offer any reduction and are like "so you want us to cancel you subscription then" then just be cool and say "well I'll have to talk it over with the wife first to confirm" ;), everyone knows these days that the wife has the last word.

When you cancel they just say it's going to be cut off in the next 14 days. At anytime in this period you can phone back up and tell them you've changed your mind/ask for them to match an offer.

Well that's what happened to my folks, my mum was annoyed that dad was watching to much football on tv and after an argument about it she cancelled the sky subscription. It carried on working for a few days and then just cut out. She felt really guilty and signed up again and it was working the next day.
