*** Sky Q Thread ***

My bad. Not sure if you can do that, it's all or nothing from my poking around the menus.

No worries, thanks for the response though. I'm going to test another option which will be to cable the PS4 into the Q box and utilise the bridged network.
It's the PS4 that seems most sensitive to the Q Wifi so I'll post back if that seems to resolve the issue.
Everything I've read seems to point to it not being an option to disable the hotspot.

I don't understand, your theory is that the Q box itself (& not sure if you have minis?) just broadcasting their presence, even though you are not connecting, cause inteference ?
you could turn off that broadcast https://www.boards.ie/ttfthread/2057854698, and hide the ssid,
but guess I don't understand the problem,
you could probably restrict it/q to either 2.4 or 5ghz band too, whatever the ps4 is not using ?

SKY Q - had to use is during xmas visit to relatives :(-

Q catch-up apps these seem a poor imitation of the real thing available on Roku or other OTT devices
  • I cannot find programs that are available on the likes of Roku catch-up apps eg. ITV's 'Made in Britain'
  • The real Iplayer alllows subtitles on catch-up programmes, but the the Sky implementation does not. (you do get subtitles if you had the forethought to record the original broadcast on Q)

So - sky seems to short change its customers, my relatives don't care about netflix or hdr (also available on roku) they just want that basic functionality.

To be fair to sky q though, it is integrated with the voice search and doesn't required a different logon for each of the different catch up services.

Hi guys, just watching the football on sky UHD and sometimes the audio is muffled and I can’t work Out why, if I set the audio to normal in the sky menu it’s fine but if I set it to Dolby digital or Dolby digital plus it’s muffled when they do interviews It does it on other channels as well where I have noticed it, is when programs finish and there is a voice over saying what’s coming up, I though the whole point of the AF9s eArc what it could pass through DD and DD+ to my SamsungAtmos soundbar

On demand downloads on BBC, ITV, Channel Four and Channel 5 are sourced directly from the providers. If they choose not to include certain programs or subtitles then Sky can certainly ask but ultimately can't force them. There is a dedicated 'subtitled' section of the catch up service though. Sky are working on Subtitles for On Demand but I'm unsure when it's likely to happen.

Anyone having issues with SkyQ on a LG OLED screen ?
We have a non-4K SkyQ box and used it with no issues on a Samsung KS7000 for over a year.
We have just got an LG B8 and when running the sky box at 1080p the screen becomes garbled / black pretty much all the time.
Changing the box to 720p or 1080i it seems to work fine , ive tried different HDMI ports with deep colour on/off , different hdmi cables , updated the sky box / TV to latest firmware but nothing seems to resolve the issue.

Use 1080i then. The tv pictures aren’t in 1080p, only the guide and Sky Q UI are.

Yer im happy at the moment to use 1080i , im more thinking if i move to SkyQ 4k after my current deal run out next month ( it was an ace deal you helped with Misschief :-) ) i didnt want to run into further issues due to my TV not liking SkyQ so much

Not sure. No doubt more info will come out after new year.

Do you know if this is being done by a firmware update or a new box? I'm due to renew in the next couple of months and might update to a UHD box/sub - but don't want to get stuck with an older box that won't get the HDR update :p

Is it still only possible to set a UHD recording through the main box or can this now be done on the mini boxes or Q app? Pain in the arse when I'm not in the living room and I remember there is a game on I might want to see later.

Is it possible to add any apps to the app launcher button on the remote? The pre-installed Sky apps are dreadful but it would save many a button press.

Really wish you could delay video on the Q box to help with lip sync issues.

Any box you get now will be capable of HDR when it comes
Do the eu countries/de get a different/superior box for the internet only option, ? I assume sky italy with hdr, does use a conventional box.
all the uhd catchup (does that include sport originally @30Mb/s) can be delivered by internet so no need for satellite for uhd

Last I heard the Internet only box development had been placed on hold and no sign of trials or a release date as yet. Live UHD is still delivered by satellite and I can't see that changing any time soon.

Do you have a mini box already? If so £79 self install is likely the best you'll get for a while. Sky get no extra income from additional mini boxes.

It's for my in-laws. They have one mini box already but when he phoned they told him £129 including install for any additional boxes. I'll mention the £79 for self install. Thanks :)
