*** Sky Q Thread ***

@Cosimo

Looks like the Q tech team are aware of the juddering issue and are working on a fix asap.

In the mean time, the options are to switch inputs and go back or to turn off tv and back on.

Must be something within the TV, as they're a few models affected. They are in contact with Sony regarding the fix.

Is this juddering issue where it jerks repeatedly and pixellates with large blocky-type effect?

If so then I had it the other night but a restart of the TV fixed it - it is a Sony, same model as Cosimo.

Sounds familiar.

Cheers.

Good to see it's got high priority for a fix. :)

Happening in the BT UHD channel as well according to that thread Cosmo. Wonder what the issue is with the Sony TVs.

It is very odd. Ours has been perfect since the three events on Thursday and Friday morning.

Our TV HDMI signal format has two options, standard and enhanced:

[Enhanced Format] displays High-Quality HDMI signals. Select this option only if your device supports High-Quality HDMI formats such as: 4K 60p 4:2:0 10bit, 4:4:4, 4:2:2 (HDR included)

It has been running on standard HDMI signal format.

As it's settled down I will switch it to enhanced to see what happens.

What's this standard/enhanced HDMI format thing? Is this a function of the TV or the Sky box?

This is a TV function which allows individual control of all you HDMI ports:

Viewing picture in 4K resolution or HDR with High-Quality (4K models only)

When you display in High-Quality 4K or HDR format* using HDMI input, set [HDMI signal format] in [External inputs].

The availability of the HDR feature depends on your model/region/country.

1.Press the HOME button, then select [Settings] — [External inputs] — [HDMI signal format] — the desired option.

Available options

[Standard format]Standard HDMI format for normal use.
[Enhanced format]High-Quality HDMI format.

Set only when using capable devices.

Note

•In [Enhanced format], the picture and sound may not be output correctly. In this case, change to [Standard format].

•Only for devices supporting High-Quality HDMI format.

•When you watch 4K/HDR picture with High-Quality*, use a Premium High
Speed HDMI Cable that supports speeds of 18 Gbps. For details on a Premium High Speed HDMI Cable that supports 18 Gbps, refer to the specifications of the cable.

•For some models, the [HDMI signal format] of HDMI IN 2 and HDMI IN 3 changes at the same time.

* 4K 60p 4:4:4, 4:2:2, or 4K 60p 4:2:0 10bit, HDR, etc.

To enable HDR on our UHD HDR Blu-ray player the port it uses is set to enhanced.

We've also got Dolby Digital enabled in the Q box as the TV does process this.

:)

Ah ok thanks. I'll check this but pretty sure it's enabled by default - the Sky box has detected and switched to 2160p 10-bit and I'd assume this is only available if the TV is set to enhanced mode, otherwise it'd likely revert to 8-bit.

Using Dolby Digital too but it's passing that out to my CT390 via HDMI4(ARC). Still getting the audio drop-out issue as are many others. Sky really need to fix that.

TV is set to standard by default.

Cosimo, my TV flagged up an update this morning but I've not installed it yet. Wonder if this is to address the issue?

What I previously mentioned obviously wasn't the juddering issue talked about by others but I think I had it last night. Turned the TV and box on and tuned to Sky News and the ticker at the bottom was jerking very regularly (as was the rest of the picture obviously). Turning the TV off and on again solved it.

I put this one on last week and it does not. It is an Android update:

Android app has been updated:

Finally looking good on Samsung Note Pro 12.2.

More importantly for me , seems to have solved the almost constant 'Requires an active wifi connection' issue I've had on my Note Pro 12.2

Even Sky couldn't help me on that. Would connect ok to the box and show me what's on it, but then would only occasionally play or download something, and would always show that error when it didn't work. Their recommendations were almost always reboot the tab and the box.

Just awaiting Q for Phones now.

Me too.....think that this will be a killer mainstream feature, actually. I have my phone with me pretty much all the time, yet only really have a tablet to hand when I am at home.....and have Q box and 2 minis to view from.
