*** Sky Q Thread ***

The flickering/shuddering has happened again today during UHD upscaling by the Q box. It appears that is happening on recordings my wife has been watching, some of which have been SD. Reverting to 1080p clears the problem.

The latest Sony Bravia 55XD9305 (LED Premium HDR 4K Ultra HD). The TV has been flawless at upscaling and also playing back UHD HDR blu ray which is coming to the TV in that format.

4K streaming is also flawless.

Some of the stuff she watches is really bad quality old SD programming. It happens after about 20-30 minutes playback.

It does look like a Q problem with recordings. I will investigate further before reporting on the Sky forum.

Is it the same idea when a TV doesn't support 24fps and it shudders as the picture moves from side to side?

It is perfect on playback.

There is movement and flicker. Not had a chance to playback one of her recordings but I will do so this weekend.

What programmes is it happening on to see if we can reproduce, might be an issue with the actual broadcast itself.
 
Saw SkyQ at a neighbours house yesterday, his 55" Panasonic made the picture quality look amazing...

Once we move later this year I'll get a new 55" and SkyQ but the limits are the feeds as we have an annex being built next to the bungalow but the inlays need to watch separate feed and other channels in the bedroom...

If I call Sky and go through the options will they come up with a plan?

An old Dalziel and Pascoe episode on Alibi recorded before this new firmware drop. Also BBC news when they showed a longish item on Russian athletes (happened Thursday at lunchtime and the six o'clock news). I'm now wondering whether this is actually a broadcast issue.
 
Downloaded a pascoe episode from 16th july and it was fine on my system.

I'll post on the forum anyway, can you post if it happens again please.
 
I see the footy is coming in 4K, i'm suddenly more interested in SkyQ.

Problem is, i'm on a 50% deal and upgrading to SkyQ = £45 extra a month :/
 
I'm having quite a few issues still and now can't record or pause as it says there is a problem with the hard drive. How do you format it?

I can't remember if it is in the engineers menu, and I am sure how to access it has no been chanmged with the latest update.

Used to be home, 0, 0, 1, select.
 
Been in touch with sky and they are coming to replace the main box. Had so many issues with it I'm glad. Got a £25 credit for the hassle.
