*** Sky Q Thread ***

There's a rumour of a new offer coming but nothing confirmed as yet as soon as i hear I'll make a new post due to the demand I've had for Q codes.

Coolio. Thx

By the way, any idea what package (Original, Family or Complete) sky Q is? I might be having a blonde moment but it didn't seem to be immediately obvious?

It is very odd. Ours has been perfect since the three events on Thursday and Friday morning.

Our TV HDMI signal format has two options, standard and enhanced:

It has been running on standard HDMI signal format.

As it's settled down I will switch it to enhanced to see what happens.

Enhanced is only for PC's really, nothing else will support it. Best to leave it off.

Ah ok thanks. I'll check this but pretty sure it's enabled by default - the Sky box has detected and switched to 2160p 10-bit and I'd assume this is only available if the TV is set to enhanced mode, otherwise it'd likely revert to 8-bit.

Using Dolby Digital too but it's passing that out to my CT390 via HDMI4(ARC). Still getting the audio drop-out issue as are many others. Sky really need to fix that.

You are correct, 10bit for HDR.

How much disruption is there internally when it comes to installing Sky Q coming from Virgin? I only ask because i'd install the main box in a bedroom that can be a bit of a nightmare to navigate and I dont really want the hassle of having to move everything just to install a box in the room :(

Any particular reason why you want the main box in there? All boxes effectively share functionality but only the TV connected directly to the Silver box will be capable of displaying UHD.

It's currently the only 4K tele in the house so wouldnt want it to lose out on the UHD capability :)

Is that it for UHD firmware drops before official launch?

As far as I am aware, yes!

Looking at all the info, it does seem there is a problem with that range of Sony TVs mate. If it was just us, then the BT UHD on BT's system wouldn't be doing the same.

There is currently no planned Q firmware update from Sky prior to the 13th August launch date.

In the mean time I would suggest that you check that you have the latest firmware installed for your TV. I know with Samsung that it pays to check their website as sometimes the "latest" firmware update available through the TV's automatic system isn't actually the latest update.

Except my Sky box will detect and switch into 10-bit even if the HDMI input is set to standard, which is what I don't understand.

Probably just detects a 10-bit capable screen and outputs that format irrespective of the receiving end.
