*** Sky Q Thread ***

Daft question but I presume its worth viewing the UHD content even though ive only got a 1080p TV? I presume the PQ, compression and bitrate will be better than the HD content?

Watched the UHD version of the Liverpool v Barcelona footie on Saturday and was very impressed. For me, detail and clarity were well resolved and colours looked vibrant. As a taster, happy!

Anyone suffering from juddering with 4k on a Sony may want to try this:

Make sure Sky Q is set to UHD, then factory reset TV and when set up make sure hdml is changed to enhanced mode

Had sky Q for a few days now thanks to the deal from MissChief and it's excellent. The only two niggles I have is I've noticed some very low quality in adverts, mainly in Disney Junior when the youngest is watching. Only in adverts so not a big deal. The other one is the insanely bright Q light on the front during playback. Hopefully they can introduce a dimmer for it in the near future as in a dimly lit room it is very off putting.

There was a bug in one of the initial firmware releases, swipe right then up and it turned the Q light off... Now it's fixed I find black electrical tape dies a great job :)

I dont think all the upscaling in the world can improve some of those adverts, tends to be the louder ones as well just to be extra annoying. How do the +1 channels look as theyre normally worse on regular sky.

Skimming through the thread I've noticed it being mentioned that the q box and mini box have their own homeplug system installed but Sky haven't activated it yet. Is this still the case and if so is there any reason why I wouldn't be able to use my current homeplugs and connect the boxes with ethernet cables if I have any wifi issues?
