*** Sky Q Thread ***

best thing is to phone up and ask, see what they can do? What package do you have?

at the moment sky+ with multiroom and I guess all the channels, costs £92 a month. I was planning on cutting that down originally as I don't think I get value from it, I use Netflix mainly these days.

Hi chaps, i'm getting my network ready for when the engineer pops round.

I'll be having the main box on the ground floor, and the mini on the second floor so i'm a bit concerned RE: WiFi for the streaming which means powerline is probably going to be for the best.

Is the internal powerline functioning yet?

Thanks.

It is present in the hidden menu but not yet being used officially.

Can't seem to get any discount on the stupid £200 up front fee. They can't even tell me what the fee is for really, just spout crap about additional TV fee and installation which will take him 5 mins. If they want me to pay for the box then fine, don't mask it in crappy charges that mean nothing. Angry a new customer gets the same thing for £10 plus a £50 credit!

Any ideas how to get them to budge on the price?

Very tempted to upgrade to Q. I currently pay £35 p/m as per a new customer offer for everything plus multi room (one extra box).

It goes up to £42, what happens to multi room? Presumably that can be cancelled?

Yea it's replaced with a £12 Sky Q version of multiroom, forget what they actually call it.

£99 installation for the 2tb and £99 for the mini, not sure what it's for as they say its not for the box itself but "additional TV fee" bull lol

I logged into my sky account and I can get it for £30 installation and another £30 for the mini box.

Why such a price difference?

I rang Sky earlier - they confirmed I'd keep any existing discounts but I'd have to pay £297 installation costs - this covers one Sky Q Silver and two Minis.

I did have a free installation (F&F) code but they said that's expired.

Think I'll pass :)

Bit of a change of events...

I rang Sky back and mentioned some of the offers people are getting on installs, i.e. £30 etc - so they offered me £150 install on three boxes (a silver and two minis) which I accepted.

But a couple of days later, I remembered my '£18 off for ten months' was due to expire in November. I rang Sky to ask about a new deal and they said no, so I asked to cancel the Q install.

I was put through to the Sky Q team (as my account had already been converted) and explained my reason for cancelling. A really helpful guy offered me 50% off for 12 months.

Couldn't be happier!

I ordered sky q last Monday I had to sign up for 18 months, and it was going to cost me £113 a month as they said they could not carry my offer over.

I phoned up today to cancel after reading through this thread with the deals other people are getting, and they have now reduced my contract to 12 months I've got to sky minis and the silver box for £150, and they have now carried my offer over so until January for everything it's going to be £68 a month, then goes to £96.

It well worth a phone call if anyone is in the same position as me.

Anybody else keep getting asked for their pin when watching box sets on their mini box? I've got all the parental stuff switched off but whenever I play a new episode of the Sopranos I keep getting asked for my pin. I can't figure out how to turn it off.

You can't - thank Ofcom for that brain-dead decision.

That said, the Q box's implementation of it is broken.

If you upgrade to Sky Q whilst on a 12 month offer does the offer start again for 12 months or just however many months were originally left?

This is the problem I had...the offer isn't renewed even though you sign up to a new contract. You may end up paying full price if you can't get a new offer when your existing one expires.

Thought so - am only 3 months in so not a big deal - the upgrade is only £9 extra for the other 9 months.

Will they def upgrade the LNB so I can revert to Sky HD at the end of the 12 months if no offer is provided?
