*** Sky Q Thread ***

It says the following on the link you posted:
Take your viewing experience one step further with Sky Multiscreen, which includes Sky Go Extra at no additional cost, meaning you'll get both for £12 extra a month.

When I went to that link the other week, when logged in to my account, it only gave me the £5 option. It obviously doesn't recognise Sky Q Silver as being a multiscreen customer.

Pretty certain I only got the £5 offer when I went into that earlier but now all I get is an error (which I seem to get quite a lot on their site) so can't check.

Ok, I think everything has been resolved now. I received a text from Sky to say the matter has be solved so I check my account online and Sky Go Extra is now not even showing on my account at all! On the phone to Sky again and finally speak to somebody that actually knows what he's talking about - if you have Sky Q Silver then you don't need to activate Sky Go Extra, it's already included in the Silver bundle which is why it doesn't show up as another service. By activating Go Extra the other week it was adding something I already had and charging me for it.

Just been talking to sky according to the guy I spoke to communal dishes cant have sky q right now

Anyone know if I am being fobbed off

Talking about communal dishes, one thing I did wonder about was whether the cable from the dish can be split now?

As Sky Q uses a wideband LNB which simply feeds all the transponders to the box, surely splitting the signal would be as simple as it is with a regular antenna? Of course, as Sky won't let you have multiple Q boxes there's not much point but, perhaps one day...

So we signed up to Sky Q the other day and got a reasonable deal. Certainly cheaper than we were paying to Virgin Media for TV/Phone/Broadband so that is good. Should probably have checked here first though as I now notice there are some F&F deals for new customers. Oh well you live and learn.

On the plus side I'm really looking forward to getting Sky Q it sounds so much better than what we had with Virgin Media. The Virgin Media TIVO box is so damn slow it is unbelievable.

Guys quick question. I'm moving in with in laws for a few months while we sort out our new house. They currently have sky+ and have a pretty poor max broadband speed (20mb I think). They are talking about upgrading to SkyQ with 2 mini boxes 1 for their bedroom and 1 in ours. Now the question is, how good is the WiFi using the minis as hotspots? Reason I ask is I'm a big pc gamer, the pc will be upstairs in the same room as the mini box, but am I right in saying there will be no way to connect to that mini box via ethernet cable? How good and strong is the wireless signal? Anyone have any experiences of wireless pc gaming on SkyQ?

Sky Q supposed to be getting installed Monday, no new viewing card.... what are the chances the installer will say he can't do it, and reschedule for a couple of weeks? :/

The engineers have some with them or may even be able to reuse your current one.

Had Sky Q installed today (silver 2tb + mini box) - it's awesome :-)

No, you can't have a wired connection from PC > Sky mini. The wireless is very good - I used to get intermittent connection at the bottom of my garden but now with the sky mini box 1/3rd of the way between the router acting as a hotspot I now get three bars and a solid 20 down / 20 up on my phone/tablet. I'm on fibre pro (so 76 down / 20 up) - PC's are all wired into the router - so I can't comment on gaming - but with those speeds it should be good as long as the connection is reliable, but the mini box has been streaming all day and I've not experienced on hiccup or glitched image.
