Sky Sports to remain home of Formula 1 until 2029 after deal extended in all Sky markets

Can you get sky without needing a dish now, or is that only if you get the Sky Glass with a TV from them? Do you also need to get Sky broadband specifically to not have a dish?
You can get Sky Glass, but the quality of them is apparently not great, plus I really don't like the idea of being tied to Sky via your TV itself. But there's also Sky Stream, where you just plug in a network connection and away you go, but it's an additional £29/month which is ridiculous.

You don't need to have Sky broadband - any provider with a decent enough connection speed will do.

@Feek are you still on the original £10/month deal they did back in 2012 which got you the HD package along with SSF1?
No, sadly not. I was on that deal but I had a time out of work and had to save a few quid so cancelled it. I resubbed to the F1 channel a few years later for a a fiver a month for 18 months and then full cost after that. I’m still on that now. I don’t get any other Sky sports channels.

So to watch F1 live in the UK legally can someone list the current methods and costs?

1: via Sky direct paying what, a minimum of £50 for Skysports TV package and up to £££ ?
2: via Virgin Media with SkySports bundle similar costs to above
3: via NowTV? I know nothing about this other than it being poorer quality and about £30 odd a month for a sub?
4: ?
5: ?

Are there any methods to legally connect to an international IPTV service or some other country via satellite dish?

F1 TV is £20 a month I think.

Should you happen to be in France... I believe F1TV is only €7.

It was 7.99 when my workaround.. Worked around the issues.

Then it stopped. So I cancelled.

Now I just watch catchup. But as f1 doesn't appeal much anymore (a dejected alpine supporter) I don't think I'd pay anymore for f1.

I was only watching as I was basically addicted. But the loss of f1tv made me go cold turkey! :D

C4s highlights are fine. Cuts out a lot of the dull stuff. And sometimes I don't even bother at all some weekends

I left Sky in February and had F1TV app and Now TV to watch F1.

I got tired of messing about with the poor consistency of the F1 app and the shocking picture quality of Now TV as well as the fact it can be days before quali and races appear to watch on demand if you don’t catch them live.

When the F1 App threw a wobbly and stopped working altogether I threw in the towel.

I called Sky and asked about Sky Q. It isn’t available on their website to take out a sub (or at least it wasn’t for me). Yep still available.

So I got a quote for ultimate TV + sports HD and a 2TB Q box for £29 a month for 18 months. That was actually cheaper than now TV sports + booster. I bolted on a few extra quid for UHD sports.

The deal was on the account that Sky were wanting me to return as a customer, no doubt because I properly left. The last Q box and router and everything were sent back. Happily they also allowed me to reinstate my time served status so I got immediate access to VIP etc and my account shows me as being a customer for ~16 years. I know a lot of people report headaches with Sky customer services, but I’ve never had an issue really.

Anyway, Sky Q is just so convenient and allows proper download and recording, which Sky Stream does not. I’m going to hold onto it as long as I can until it is inevitably phased out.

Can’t say I regret going Back to Sky - it’s been great to watch recordings in UHD at such a time that is convenient for me without the image quality dropping out or stopping altogether. It’s just a shame the 2023 season has been lacking any real competition!

Roll on 2024 :)

Glad you're glad to be back. The Sky hate mob will be along shortly no doubt.

Thanks :) I’ve used Sky TV for a good many years and honestly it’s been faultless. I’ve not found anything that is as good as Sky Q in general use, even the upscaling of the Q box is much better than anything else I’ve used (such as a 2TB freesat recorder box).

Yes Sky can get expensive but you just have to play the game and Sky will normally do what they can to get your costs down.

I’ve just got the main Q box now and not bothered with multiroom or internet this time.

UHD F1 that I can watch at my own convenience on a lovely LG C2 TV and all for a reasonable price - I’m a happy camper :)

Lovely deal, I know Sky is expensive but if you’re a big football and F1 fan it’s good value for money. Throw in cricket, rugby and several other sports and you can’t go wrong

My gran still has Sky Sports to watch at home but doesn't have internet, Sky Go on the Xbox and iPad for me! But I do know when the time comes....I'll be paying for access properly one way or another....
