Evo bias from an ex-Evo owner on an Evo forum? Well now I've seen everything!
Skylines aren't rally monsters like Evos and Subarus, they've never been pitched as rally monsters so comparing the two is pointless. You might as well compare Evos/Scoobies to Porsches. If you want a car to fly around B-roads and the like the obvious choice are Evos/Scoobies. Anyone who sells an Evo 6 and buys an R34 GTR thinking they are the same thing is an idiot.
I'm not going to bother commenting on DreXeLs posts suffice to say I find his viewpoint (particularly given his assumed "Jap car nut" status) surprising. Next he'll be saying they "drive themselves" or something...
Take it from someone who has actually
owned an R34 GTR for over a year - they're potent weapons. Admittedly in standard tune - by todays standards - they're not amazingly quick (just under sub-5 seconds standard I think), but they are
so easy and cheap (relatively) to tune straight out of the box that this is largely irrelevant. A simple ECU remap will take you from 280 to 350bhp+ with no mechanical changes needed.
The above said, Skylines aren't track monsters and shouldn't be regarded as such. It's a straw man argument to suggest otherwise.
Funnily enough DreXeLs argument is an odd one because RX7s are neither track weapons (RWD and very tail happy) nor grand tourers (a relatively lowly top speed by comparison)... so its difficult to understand just where they fit in the grand scheme of things. They're simply not "as good" as either Evos, Scoobies or Skylines. This is probably why they're about 50% as expensive, you get what you pay for.

(joke)
Maybe he's bummed at not getting enough attention when driving through town at 5mph, when people in lowly Skylines get people flocking to make bowing gestures at the side of the road. A couple more neons and some more decals should sort that DreXeL...
And not a hint of irony. Who's the one who goes to all these cruises, drives like a hooligan on public roads, has decals on their car, etc? And that's
not showing off?
