Skyline

Before I watch another film I will ask your opinion to whether I should like it or not and how much since you obviously know what you're on about.

Tell me whether I should like any of these and how many out of 10 because I really don't want to waste my time if you know better :

Made In Dagenham
Red
Unstoppable
Fair Game
Ice Twisters
Case 39
Due Date
New Town Killers
Born To Raise Hell

Thanks oh worthy one.

Clearly 0/10 because you can't watch them over and over and over!

Personally I don't think Independence Day or District 9 are worth more than a 6 or 7 out of 10.

I'd be tempted to give The Thing 10/10, but no movie is perfect :p

Films i watch over and over again are rarely brilliant films, but they are fun
and enjoyable.
Films that i give 10/10 are master pieces that have much more to them but because of that are "harder" to watch due to complexity, as such watched rarely.

Spot on chaps. :)

Because he is a film critic and knows more than we will ever know.
Our opinions are not worthy.

Why do you say "we"? Yours are the only opinions ive disagreed with in the thread. Whichever way you look at it (or want to come off as the harrassed victim), saying Inception is a 0/10 film, and Independence Day is a 10/10 film, is just a bit over the top... and ive as much right to counter the opinion with my own as you have to make yours in the first place. Yes, it's not always pleasant to have someone disagree and rubbish your opinions, but that's life and we're all big boys here. :)

But the difference is that I haven't called your opinions silly because they are what you believe.
If you think that the scores are the other way round then I respect your opinion but I certainly wouldn't call it silly.

It's as though only your opinion counts but I know what I like, what interests me and what doesn't and you have no right to tell me I'm wrong in my scoring and I'm silly because of it.
You also claim it as FACT.

Yeah, to call independence day a 10/10 film is madness. The very best films in my view are the ones that are hard to watch again. If you can watch something 10 times then chances are:

A. The plotline is pants and secondary to the action
B. There is little to no thinking involved in watching.
C. Any plot twists are so obvious the first time round that it doesnt matter that you know what happens subsequent times.

Total recall is a great film to kick back and watch and I reckon I have seen it 5-6 times now. I wouldnt rate it about a 6 or 7 though because its just trashy fun. You never come away thinking wow, that was amazing.

I couldnt watch city of god that many times in as short a time span but would consider it a far far far better film.

Yeah, to call independence day a 10/10 film is madness.

it's madness questioning someone else opinions. taste is very much personal.

it's even madder to call something like this fact.

Boggles the mind, you might disagree, but guess what people have different tastes, I think harry potter movies are average at best, yet millions would disagree with me, are they wrong? of course not, just different tastes. Which is why I totally ignore critics.

my dad went to see independance day in our local fleepit .. it was the first film he'd seen in a cinema since untouchables ( btw my dads 69 ) .. he got sucked in by the hype and thought he'd go see what the fuss was all about ....HE HATED IT and my dads seen a lot of films.

i loved it at the time ... but its aged badly and i;d probably have given it 8/9 out of 10 at the time .. now id say 7

@ acid well said .. films are a taste/opinion disagreeing is life . same with music .. i dont like hiphop funk , house .. whatever thats just me .. i dont slate someone for liking it .. although i rib them abit :D

I agree taste is very personal... but believing a good film is bad does not make a good film a bad film, nor does believing a bad film is good make it in reality a good film. Personal opinions and enjoyment aside, a good film is a good film, and a bad one is a bad one.

However dmpoole, I do apologise for being condescending in my attitude earlier, hangover + sore head = unintentional narkiness.

Richdog you're making a bit of a fool of yourself... opinions are not facts.

"A good film is a good film."

What makes 'a good film' is subject to your personal opinion, and therefore it can never be a fact.

Everyone stop arguing before I take my belt off.

Im not posting ironically, I just disagree with what youre saying. A good film is not only a good film subject to an opinion, a well made film is just... good.
