Skyrim ...Is it any good ?

Would you say this is a good assessment of the game? :D

1 Great Pyramid of Giza
2 Hanging Gardens of Babylon
3 Statue of Zeus at Olympia
4 Temple of Artemis at Ephesus
5 Mausoleum of Maussollos at Halicarnassus
6 Colossus of Rhodes
7 Lighthouse of Alexandria
8 Morrowind
*New*! 9 Skyrim

Fix'd

Fallout 3 is like TES with guns and grenades. :D

Another Fix'd

Soundtrack to the game is beautiful. Even the continue/load/credits/quit screen when you first load the game has that great rousing battle music and choir, like something out of an epic hollywood blockbuster. And there's been a couple of areas I've been where the music has been extremely reminiscent of legend of zelda ocarina of time, really nice soothing melodies and interesting instruments.

Heh, I never played any elder scrolls before this, so I'll take your word for it.

Never really got into fallout 3 and new vegas, bought skyrim however, its the type of game you have to put a lot of effort into it

What makes a big difference for me compared to Oblivion is that the dungeons etc have all been hand made. This is really important for my immersion in the game. With Oblivion I had no desire to trawl through dungeons because they had no personality.

This. Oblivion's dungeons were all copy/paste jobs and not to mention the bloody boring gates of oblivion that took you up the same towers all the time.

Don't get me wrong, Oblivion was good but Skyrim is so so SO SO SO much better.

Morrowind is in my top 5 games of all time (possibly even number one).

Oblivion, or 'generic fantasy RPG' as it's better known, on the other hand was bland, repetetive, everyone had pudding faces and the world just wasn't fun to explore.

Skyrim has recaptured the magic of Morrowind (feels very much like Bloodmoon strangely :D ) and even though I was initially annoyed by the 'dumbing down' of the game, it actually feels much better for it (Though I know there will be many who disagree)! It might even have topped Morrowind.

They are incentivised well also - both with loot as you get a chest at the end and possibly a new dragon shout.

in what way is skyrim better? just better game world deisgns?

I dunno, to me Skyrim doesn't seem like that much of an improvement over Oblivion.

In terms of gameplay it's still basically the same copy and paste 'go here/kill him' quests, and although the dungeons may have been handmade but they still all look fairly similar.

Don't get me wrong, I think the game is very good, just not as much of an improvement over Oblivion as a lot of people make it out to be. One thing I will say though is that some of the textures in the game are absolutely shocking, and I don't mean that in a good way.

Why take all that effort to make the game look amazing and then use crappy textures

I tried to play Morrowind after playing Oblivion and I just could not get into it. I imagine that its a very awesome game, but by the time I got to it it seemed too old and dated.

I think so far that Skyrim has taken what it learned from Oblivion and raised it up to a whole new level.

Best game i have played in a long time, tbh i don't have anything negative to say about it.
I agree this is definite goty material.
