sleeping on plane

Dont try and fly with a heavy head cold, i did it this year coming back from Gran Canaria in May and my god never again, i was delerious, actually totally out of it. The thought of falling asleep was incomprehensible to me it just couldn't happen

Don't sleep the night before and you'll get to sleep before they have a chance to tell you where the emergency escapes are.

Tried that, guy in front had his seat fully reclined and i got 0 sleep. 3 hour drive back from the airport was interesting to say the least. (after 10hr flight)

I try to get a window seat if I can and that way I can lean against the wall of the plane as well as the seat back to make sure I'm not going to be falling about if I get to sleep.

alcohol is key to falling asleep on planes :o

drugs may also work :/
This man knows what he is talking about, before my daughter was born, just drink about 1/2 bottle of vodka and take a few sleeping pills (make sure not to miss out on the food if its not an overnight (some airplane food kicks tail!)) and wakeup when you get there :)

I'm travel a lot around the world, I have tremondous trouble sleeping on planes in cattle class. I'm 6 foot 2 and struggle. I find it really clostrafobic (sp?!) having someones head virtually in mine as i'm so bolt upright and thent hey put their chair back.

Luckily I get to travel Business everywhere, usually i find that no trouble at all, especially Virgin or BA.

Drink a fair amount of alcohol whilst your in the air, it has more of an effect on you when your up there. Oh and a full stomarch usually helps! :)

Its something you just get used to.

As a regular long haul flier, this is what I do:

1. Always get a window seat; the benefits are twofold:
-No one has a reason to disturb you
-You can lean against the window

2. Always keep your belt on over your blanket

3. Take a pack of Nytol (ONLY TAKE 1 EVERY COUPLE OF HOURS OR THEY MAKE YOU VERY SICK THOUGH!!!) and drink a few beers & wine with dinner

4. Enjoy your sleep  <- they help too

I always find it hard, especially with Virgin. I always find the gap between the window seat and the window too big, I can never get comfortable.

Yea planes are r-tarded, they seem to have managed to build a genius design of seat that is totally uncomfortable. Give me a bus and I am out like a light, trains not as easy as buses but I can manage it on certain types of carriages (as long as I am not going backwards - impossible then). Despite all that, Planes are freakin impossible. Should just fit them with bus seats, get more people on and a damn sight more comfortable.

Edit: Just to clarify that, bendy bus seats.

I don't normally sleep on public transport. Last time I tried it on a plane, my neck was sore for days. Never making that mistake again.
